  1. Middle lane hoggers really p**s me off especially when they sit there doing 50-60 mph as do those who drive in the 2nd overtaking lane doing 70 moaning with a huge queu behind them and give you that look when you have to undertake them which I hate to do

The 2nd one is people not indicating even worse when at roundabouts, and those that know they have done something wrong or poorly then give you the bird when you flash them

  2. I know that part of M1 well and use it most days. In the heavy rain the spray there is terrible and hard to see as it, let alone the standing water. I've aquaplaned there a couple of times, luckily while on a straight bit of road.

I'm also running falkens with about 6mm of tread on all 4 corners but with the tyres on the Zed as thick as they are I think it makes the issue worse.

Glad you and the Zed are ok, bet you enjoyed that beer when you got home :)

  3. Try a comparison website like confused.com

Say you park on a driveway (if you have one) and not a garage, have a safe office job, put your girlfriend, mum, sister on it as a named driver (reduces the cost) and tell them you drive as few miles as possible, all will help with reduced costs

Just don't lie as they could use it against you should anything happen

  4. Also have the HR here, on cold start my needle normally sits at about 1.5k dropping to below 1k when warm. You could have a clutch release bearing issue, my car was pretty loud when idle and as stated above, disappeared when clutch was depressed, got it replaced by Nissan just before warranty ran out, the car had 33k miles on the clock

  5. Mine went up from £450 to £670 this year with Elephant, went to compare the meerkat, saw lower quotes, went to cancel over the phone, was quoted £410 which I took, 8 Years no claims,

Why can't they just offer the lower price to begin with, legal theft, that's all insurance companies do

  6. I have an 08, although I never had the burning smell issue I did have a clunky gear box and some times struggled to select 6th.

Nissan themselves said it was just a characteristic of the car. It was another garage who knew the car well that said it wasn't right.

Went back to Nissan in Watford, and they changes the gearbox and clutch under warranty (1 month before it ran out)

  7. got my renewal quote through today from elephant and it has gone from £450 to £650, ouch I thought

Went to confused.com, best quote was from Admiral, £455, I can live with that, contacted Elephant and told them not to auto renew my insurance with them. They offer a cheaper deal, worked out at £410 in the end, think that's a pretty good result

  8. Marzman provided the led strip and I sourced the clear reflector and sent them to him. Got the reflectors from Chilli Red but don't think she trades anymore sadly.

Marzman cut a hole in the top, placed and glue'd them in and siliconed it back to make them waterproof. I then had Japex in Watford fit them for me while it was being serviced. I think page 1 of the linked thread has all the info buddy

  9. On my iPhone so sorry in advance for spelling.

My brother went through a similar issueand was also as stubborn as hell, it's all about pride for them and "keeping up with the Jone's" so to speak.

Try to use that, people telling them they are in a bad way will only make them worse.

They need to lose some toys, what they have now, tv, ps3 etc won't hurt them to keep already as it's not costing any more to keep them.

Need to get rid of top sky package, if I'm not mistaken, that's about £75 a month these days, (Who actually watches all these channels anyway, scrap multiroom etc, by the sound of them, I bet they have it)

Cars are a money pit, Insurance, tax, fuel, servicing, parking charges, the list goes on, need to lose the one which is the biggest drain on money.

How old are the kids? Do they work, charge them a little rent, telling them money doesn't grow on trees, it's one of life's learning curves (I bet most of us paid our parents a little rent growing up)

DO NOT suggest bankruptcy, if they have other loads, credit cards etc and I bet they do, there are non fee companies out there that will work with them and the credit guys to drop the interested owed on their products and will work out an affordable payment plan with them, and their friends/family would never know. Only down side (which is a good thing for them will be that they can't apply for credit)

Most importantly, they need to change how they shop and stop trying to keep up with friends/neighbours etc.

Hope some of this helps, sounds like they need it

  10. I know I've posted here before but have to say Ross at Japex is a star

I was going on Holiday, forgot that my car was now 3 years old and needed an MOT and P3 service. Tried to book it in but he was swamped all week.

He suggested I dropped my keys into him, while on Holiday he would pick it up, service and MOT it, and drop it off while I was away, low and behold, a nice clean Zed was sitting in my drive when I returned with the keys placed where I had asked him to. Gave him a call and paid the bill.

I have never had this type of customer service before, Ross, your a hero

  11. I got mine from chilli red, but I know she was closing the store down. Might be worth checking if she has any left though

That or the usual two of

    :pmzmanalex: :pmr35lee:
