  1. Hello all,

My zed is due a P1 service and I have been told to ensure the best quality parts and fluids are used to buy it yourself and then just get a garage to do the service and stamp the book, I have found a garage happy to do this and just need to get shopping.

So what exactly is needed, I am assuming Oil and filter? How much Oil?

    Also what else is needed?

Can anyone suggest some the best quality/brand to buy with out getting into silly money?

My Zed is 3 years old and done 20k can anyone think of anything else that needs doing or wouldnt harm having done while its in the garage anyway to get it running smoother or impove anything!

  2. Not sure reg would be worth it mind I doubt id have time to check a list of reg before working out if it was a cop car and slowing down!

As for make again not sure as there so many diff onces and they are forever changing are loads of diff ones

The most comom being vectras, volvos, mondeos etc

But I have seen evo's, scoobys, bmw 3/5, Jag Audi A3/A4, Skoda's, mercs (mostly C) and I am sure the list goes on! One force even has a Lotus I saw in the paper! (that was marked though to be fair but you never know!

The best trick is to look for arials (thats what I do), a cop car will have more than the standard for radio and a set of 4 on the roof if it has a device for recieving tracker. Another massive give away is two rear view mirrors or from behind a rear display screen to give messages 'pull over' etc and a camera

  3. Couldnt this be seen as attempting to pervert the course of justice?

Def not, nothing wrong with that!! Perfectly legal

  4. Hello Andrew,

I am looking for some sort of induction kit, I am a bit new at this so dont know all there is to know, I see you have a few for £60 what make are they? saw you were selling a few others too, what is the difference? any advice?

Def wanna get my hands on one just dont know which yet, also any pics?

    cheers

    Neil

  5. What the guys are saying is correct.

The replacement intake can take many forms, from a simple screw on cone filter (Pop charger) to more elaborate full intakes like AEM, pipercross, etc which have either replacement pipes too, or even an air box for the filter to go in. A pop charger replaces the standard air box with a cone filter and retains the stock intake pipe, which can also be replaced.

The reason the Zed dials out the mods is that the throttle is fly by wire (i.e the ECU controls it not you) so even if you give it full throttle, it will only open the throttle wide enough to let a preset amount of air through for the revs/load you are under. This is how it limits the power it can develop as it doesnt let the extra air flow through.

Great thanks that makes sense, so that one I posted is taht a full intake then as it has pipes too? Does it look any good or a bit rubbish?

  6. How much are you selling the pipecross for?

And again I am still getting to grips with this, an induction kit repalces my air filter is that correct?? the guy above was saying about just buying the filter not the pipes? would that be using the exisiting pipes on the car then? in that link I have posted is that including pipes and filter

sorry for sounding a bit dense and asking so much

  7. AFAIK you are correct with the induction kit sucking in more air, thus improving power on most cars.

The 350z is a little different though as the ECU is quite restrictive with performance mods. Say you added an induction kit, any extra power will be taken away by the ECU re-restricting the air flow.

With Exhausts the larger the bore the less restriction of airflow again but the 350z needs back pressure so you will lose torque.

So as martin says, the only real differences you will find from changing the Exhaust and air filter etc are the sound and the look (bling factor) :teeth:

Hope this helps a little. (also hope im not talking out of my backside too much )

Ok makes sense, so what about that link I posted on Ebay is that any good, price looks cheap

  8. Hello,

Not had my Zed long and already got the bug to do work to it! not I dont know a lot about cars, this is the first I have ever wanted to change around!

I am thinking of getting a cold air induction kit, now am I right in thinking that the reason people change an air filter (other than looks or noise) is that it can suck in more air than a standard one which gives a slight performance increase, and then in turn you can go one stange further and get bigger and better pipes and exhausts etc generally making the volume of air going through the car more by getting bigger things? is that right, if not please correct me lol, id love to know the specifics!

Is this kit any good that I have found on the net and what if any difference am I likely to get, even if its just a nicer noise, does anyone have them!

Also once I have done that what would be the next step, what else is worth replacing that is better than the standard spec in the nissan? (with out spending a forture)

    Many thanks

    Neil

  9. Hello guys, this is my first time changing the tyres on my Zed and I have found the following 3 tryes that seem a pretty good deal without spending a huge amount.

    I a can get 2 Falkens for £186

    Dunlop sports SP01 £216

OR and id never heard of these but a mate has them on an M3 and says they are great Kumho KU31 for only £175

    What do you think?

Prizes avalible to anyone that can beat that price (that is buying off the net and getting delivered to mine)
