Mrs campo and myself have just spent a nice few days in bonnie Scotland. The road between Inverary and Oban is fantastic and has stunning scenery but it also has bloody rocks on it!!! 8 miles from Oban i caught a rock and it destroyed my front tyre!!!
How comical does a Zed look with three 20" Antera alloys and what can only be described as a pram wheel??
Ended up being an expensive few days................ £220 for a new continental!!!
I hate to rub salt into the wound but what size tyre was it, I wonder if I could have done it cheaper....

Tread Depth
in Tyres
Id say that in some cars 4mm is fine but in a car as powerfull as this it could be tricky in the wet! Also check the side of the tread make sure its wearing evenly if it is great if not you never know on the inside edge you may be down to 2mm, def worth checking!
Also depends how you drove if you just coast to work and back or whatever 3.5mm is fine if you drive hard then of course you will notice a lack of grip

Bridgestone RE050's: 2x 245/45/18
2x 225/45/18
You can do these for £130 a corner delivered? If you can thats darn good! Does that include delivery? How much would it cost a tyre fitter just to fit them?
If there is a good saving I will definately be in touch next time neil
It is about that yeah I think might be £5 more per tyre for 245's
Delivery is £9 for up to 4 tyres, and as for fitting thats for you to haggle with your local garage but round my way its about a tenner a corner
-
Hey Jerry,
I got the four RE050's in stock sizes for £600 fully fitted. Thought £150 a corner fitted was pretty reasonable!
Yeah, I hear you Stric. The only thing thats keeping the Zed on the floor is the rubber so its not worth taking risks on. On the whole 6000 miles thing - I hope my tyres are going to last longer than that but then I dont plan to track it or drift it.
OMG..£150 a corner sounds a little steep! I was thinking more of £130 a corner!
I can do them for £130 a corner! Just set up as a tyre trader on here....

Hello all.
As some of you may know from previous threads I am looking to set up an online tyre business selling through various forums, its all coming along well and I have set up an account with two big distributors and should start selling soon but....
Could anyone help me by creating a sig for me I am rubbish at art and photo shop so dont think I have much chance.
I was thinking black or grey back ground with red text the main title being 'West Oxon Tyres' and then maybe some of the bigger name tyre logos below it or something similar maybe tyre tread or what ever is easier. Also if poss some text saying 'specialising in performance tyres'.
It would be a massive favour to ask but I would really really appreciate it as I could use it on here plus as a logo on a website or order forms etc if it ever got that far.
Many many thanks if anyone could do that
Neil

I've got pzero's on the rear, excellent tyres, good grip and they have suprised me how well they have worn
Are they the pzero corsa or one of the others like Nero or Rosso?
Do you remember how much they were and where from?

Couple of facts for you to consider just incase mate.
1, you can only be finded within a 10 working day period, so make a note of the date, and if in 11 working days from now you get a fine in the post, it is void. I know this for a fact cos my dad got one quashed.
2, if its a moblie unit you can request the callibration certificate for that location/date and time, no certificate...no fine.
Hope you got away with it mate.
vale.
Its not actually the fine that has to reach you in that time but an NIP which is basically them telling you that you have broken a traffic law eg speeding and that you can either pay a fine+points or go to court. And I am 90% sure it is 14 days that they have to get to you, regardless of working days (the argument being the police work 24/7. I know that is a bit of splitting hairs but given the bank holiday coming up may help you!

Hello all
Has anyone ever either of the above tyre and if so what did they think, I know they are one of the most expensive tyres around but from what I have read review wise prob some of the best money can buy too.
Any got any thoughts?

If it was on the other lane I would guess it was checking the speed of the cars in that lane not urs

'This car has previosuly had a bump, with minor damage to bumper, passenger side headlight and window'
Just a bump???? It was enough for the car to be classed as a right off! Must have been a hell of a bump!

Any suggestions of a good lsp safe cleaner?
-
ok cool, so what can I do for a quick wash if I dont want to go down the whole process of wash clay polish glaze wax/seal, any suggestions for a quick wash?
-
Oh and also, when I decide I do want to polish and clay again what can I use to remove the wax as obviously there is no point polishing and claying with the wax or seal still on the car
-
Ok so I have a pretty good system for getting my car clean
I wash then clay to remove the very fine dirt then wash then dry
then polish with filers to hide some small swerl marks (previous owner)
then sometimes glaze
and then wax or seal.
However my question is that I have removed the dirt from the fine scratches with the clay, filled them with something using the polish and sealed that process in using the wax or seal and it looks but how often do I need to do that, ie go to the trouble of polish and clay, and what can I do imbetween? Could I just wash dry and wax if I use a wax friendly shampoo to clean off surface dirt and restore shine when I dont have time to do the big process and want to get the car looking good again
Cheers

I would reset too when I test drive but that wouldnt give any indication of how the current owner has been driving it
-
32?
Crikey, not bad going.
After reading other average MPG threads on here before I kind of expected mine to be around the 20 mark. Just put a bit of confidence in me that the car might not have been ragged everywhere by the previous owner. It's something I don't like to think about when buying cars because there's absolutely no way of knowing how it's been treated. Suppose if it's all still in one piece and not making any funny noises that's also a good sign.
Am I right in thinking that you have just bought it with that MPG reading, that I am afraid to say means nothing. Every car I have sold a day or two before the sale I have reset the trip computer and driven very carfully, like stupidly carful, and then when they view the car they see the mpg is high and make the same assumption that you did that the car has only ever been driven by my gran!
-
Cool I will give that a go, so I clay on a wet car??? wash and then just spray the lube onto the wet car clay it, wash again and then dry?

Hello all,
Been wanting to give my car a really good clean for a while and been reading up on it and buying some products but really want some advice, this is the order I think I should be doing things
snowfoam
Wash and dry (can anyone suggest a good shampoo?)
Clay
Polish
Glaze
Wax or seal
I am worried about using polish as I dont want to risk damaging my car so I read that you can get a glaze with filler that just masks any minor swerl marks (which is all I have) that is all I want to do is mask them dont want to remove. So can anyone suggest a polish/glaze that would be best, this is the area I am most unsure on.
Then onto wax/seal from what I have read it seems that a seal may be better than a wax but some people use both again any advice or suggestions
The main thing is that I dont want to make things worse as I heard you can do that with some polishes etc
Also how often would you suggest doing this process and what would you do inbetween for just a mini clean?
Cheers

seee now why did you say that. all im going to do now is look and them. you better hope for your sake it looks horrid inside!! i kept my last car for 6 months, i've only had this 1 month so im planning on keeping this longer
Haha shame your not closer you could have taken mine for a spin

Mmmmmmm vxr blue. i always wanted an astra vxr, only thing that stopped me was it looked exactly the same on the inside as my astra sxi did and i was wanting something different. who knows, maybe after the Z i'll get one.
The newer models get a polished black trim and I have the option of big leather recaros, plus a fatter steering wheel gear knob etc and some vxr badges.
The 57 plate onwards interiors def look a lot different to an sxi but I know what you mean on the older models
-
Pity to see the Z go but at least you got a decent amount for it. The VXR is quite good fun and a little more practical.
Give me a flash if you see my GM (with the slightly illegal M 300 TYS plates) around Witney.
I may have seen you bud, I have started noticing a GM coupe with an import plate around town which I havent seen before, going down oxford hill today.....
Not me mate. Standard plates on mine however the spacing and font could interest the local constabulary.
Got a friend coming down from oop north this weekend and promised him a blast so you may see me around.
Cool you live in witney then? what year is your reg so I know if I see ya, I am in a 57 vxr in that bright blue colour

Glad you got everything sorted.
Just be sure to make the right choice in tyres on the VXR. Torque steer city with some!
I have to say I just put a set of Kunho on the car and I am really impressed, the conti's were wearing down so thought I would put fresh on, the are really good, but then I found that on my zed. Much less T-stear with them and less than £200 for the lot!
Rocks on the road!!
