  1. Thanks Tom, will head there shortly.

Thanks Grundy, that one is £85 on Amazon at the moment so even better. Have you used it on a patio or similar? Just wonder if its a but underpowered for that, problem is next model up is £100 more!

  2. Thanks Grundy, I was just looking there now, forgot to go there first, I always head to the general forum, bad form I know.

What do you think of the K2 performance, is is powerful enough?

  3. I was wondering if anyone uses a pressure washer on the z?

I am looking to get one for the patio etc but having done a bit of reading it recommend 'medium use' (100-110 bar) for cars but 'heavy use' (110-130 bar) for patios etc.

So basically wondered if anyone has a high pressure unit that they use on the z, the paintwork on the z is a bit thin so wondered if a high pressure one might do some damage?

    Any recommendations appreciated.

  4. It seems to be sealed ok but not had much of a chance to find out yet, definitely needs a bit of a stretch but I'm sure it will sort itself out in due course, guy who fitted it said that was normal.

He arrived at 10 and was going around 1 so 3 hours including chatting and dodging a couple of rain showers!

  5. I did take a few pics but as it was so sunny they didn't come out too well, will try to get some more at the weekend. I couldn't see how to embed them in the message hence the thumbnail as well, not great with computers.

Its a mohair roof, no idea if thats good or bad but it certainly looks good at the moment :teeth:

  6. Some of you may recall I've been on about getting a new roof for ages as mine was looking very tired and had a few rips. Finally got round to getting it replaced and on a lovely sunny morning I now have a nice new roof!

I used https://carhoodsdirect.co.uk/ as they are relatively local to me and I must say they were excellent, if anyone is looking to do the same I would definately recommend them and were a lot cheaper than some others.

  7. The quotes I have had have been for just the replacement fabric and fitting.

I spoke with my local Nissan garage ad they quoted £8k to replace the whole thing, I'm sure that can be well beaten by may but my car probably isn't worth £8k so even a great price will be stupidly high in comparison.

They advised that so long as I got them to lube everything as they went replacing the fabric was I needed so the £750 from carhoodsdirect seems quite good.

  8. Thanks for that, but it sounds very expensive not fitted so I think I'll give that one a miss.

But you are welcome to the old roof when it comes off, I'm not sure how they get it off without damaging though? But assuming its still useable you can have it for the cost of postage, wouldn't feel right selling it in poor condition.

  9. Hello all,

The roof on my roadster has been tired for a while and I've decided its finally time to bite the bullet and get it replaced.

I wondered if anyone has any good/bad companies to be aware of?

I have looked on google and the first place I tried (www.carhoodsdirect.co.uk) quoted £750 fitted. My dad used www.carhood.com to replace the roof on his Boxster and they are quoting £850.

    Another was asking for £1500+VAT!

My accountants brain is telling me to use the cheapest one just wanted to check to see if anyone had a really good recomendation or has had a bad experience with them.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Anyone come across this problem?

Was driving along quite merrily yesterday when the CD player made a horrible scratching noise then stopped playing and the message 'check disk' showed on the screen.

Now no matter what CD slot I use I can't get it to play anything just the 'check disk' message is all it shows.

Have tried with a few CD's but all have the same problem.

    Otherwise radio still works fine.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Peter

(2005 model if it makes any odds)

  11. I've jsut started looking into baby seats etc as wife is expecting in February.

I had a look through the book at the child restraint section and it refers to anchorage points (where fitted) had a look and definitely nothing there, has anyone looked into having these fitted or doing it themselves, any idea on difficultly or cost involved? I have an 05 Roadster if it makes any difference.

Some good informative posts above so thanks to all.

  12. I remember when I had about 18 months driving experience I was looking at old Skylines (forget which model, long time ago now!) at about £5k put the details into the insurance websites and the insurance came in more expensive! Couldn't believe it.

Suddenly the £1,100 for my ford fiesta didn't look so bad!

  13. Hello all,

I have an 05 Roadster and the roof has been playing up. I had a problem a couple of years back where the roof wouldn't close properly and my local Nissan garage said the switches were worn out but they managed to get it going again without replacing.

All has been ok for ages but the roof seems to be sticking before fully opening and I have to close part way then open and it works ok.

Does anyone know if this is the same switch issue? If so anyone know what it might cost to get it sorted? Should I go to Nissan for this or are there any recommended garages to use? i'm based in East Sussex.

Roof fabric is also in a bit of a mess, needs repalcing, again idea of costs and recommendations for where to go out be good.

    Thanks

  14. Thanks all, I was quote £630 at Kwik Fit for a set of Continental Sport, same was then £480 at my local Honda dealer, was came as quite shock they were cheaper, they are apparently the recommened tyre.

Thanks for input, I was thinking the cheap option might not be too wise, hence the question!

The Avon's sound good, as I said I don't do a lot of miles other than commuting at local speeds so should be fine.

As Ekona said i dont really get the speed rating, the lowest rating (Q) is 99mph, I get over that about about as often as Susan Boyle's looks are compared to Cheryl Cole's!

Obviously don't want the lowest rating but anything above 120 and I'm not sure the car could even do it!

    Thanks again for help

  15. I have a Honda Civic (57 reg) as my 'other' car, it needs new shoes and I was shocked at the prices I'm being quoted, about £550-600 for a set.

A bit of google work and I have found some for £230!

These are Westlake SV308 XL 225/45R17 W94, the recomended rating for the car are 225/45R17 Y91.

So my questions, does anyone know if getting W94 rated as opposed to Y91 makes much of a difference?

If it makles any difference I do approx 10k per miles year mainly local commuting for work etc with the odd longer run thrown in but not very often.

    Any comments appreciated.

    Cheers
