  1. I keep seeing an 04 plate sunset zed on Mount Rd most mornings on my drive to work. It looks and sounds great if it's anyone on here!
  2. Cheers for the input everyone! My roadster box was fine in the summer but as the temperature dropped it got notchy. I had the gearbox oil changed and also used moly slip but the problem got worse as the temperature kept dropping. Once the gearbox was warm all gears were fine but having no second gear for the first ten minutes of each drive was a bit concerning!
  3. I just got rid of my 296 roadster for a few reasons but don't think I've quite got the zed out of my system yet. I really fancy a 313 coupe but, before I take the plunge, wanted to check a couple of things. Did Nissan sort the oil consumption issue by the time they released the hr? Is the gearbox any better in the hr? Do the same common faults such as clicking axle, skipping Bose etc plague the later cars too? Thanks in advance!
  4. I have for sale a Stormforce CCC367 cover which can be used on either a 350 or a 370. This is the one that has pockets for the wing mirrors. Taken directly from the label this is a: '4 layer all weather car cover Soft, breathable fabric, ultimate protection, unrivalled strength.' Awesome hey! Comes in a smart bag and folds reasonably small so can be easily stored. This came with the Zed when I bought it and I've never had cause to use it. I've unfolded it just to take photos and was pleased to note that there's no damp smell to it. The cover looks to be in good overall condition and free from damage. Looking on the internet these seem to be available for between £130-180. I would like £80 for this collected from Bury St Edmunds or it can be delivered at your cost via any courier firm you'd like. I regularly travel to Stoke on Trent via the A14, M1, A50 or M6 so delivery along this route may also be possible. Any question please feel free to ask!
  5. Ha ha, no idea but I like it! There's a lot of tractors so maybe more demand for diesel!
  6. 115.9 for momentum in Bury St Edmunds. Plus 8p a litre off for me so 107.9p. I was a happy man!!
  7. Thanks so much for the responses! I finally understand the basics so I can now do a bit more research. I definately don't want cabin drone, potential mot failures etc. just a bit more rasp! Again, thanks for the help.
  8. So I have a totally standard roadster with the 296bhp engine which I love. The only thing that I'm a little disappointed with is how quiet the exhaust is. Now, I'm no boy racer and I don't plan to do any other mods but I would like a subtlety louder system. I've looked on the forum and like the sound of the cobra system but I'm confused by the terminology. Resonated/non resonated, hfc, y pipe etc. is it a performance mod and do I need to notify my insurance company. Will it mess up the fueling on the existing engine map? I prefer the idea of a full system but would I get the different exhaust note just with the silencer? I see figures around £400. Is that the system and can I just buy that and bolt it on? Sorry for the noob questions!
  9. I think that, having read what people have said, the published fuel economy figures for the zed may be one of the few cars that is accurate! Use it purely around town and you'll get figures in the teens. Use it on a run and they'll be low thirties. Use it over a mixture and it'll be low to mid twenties. Can't say fairer than that! Urban mpg 17.5 mpg CO2 emissions 273 g/km Extra Urban mpg 32.5 mpg Annual Tax £285 Average mpg 24.8 mpg
  10. I saw a 57 plate yellow, what I assume was a GT4, with a body kit on heading towards BSE yesterday 26/10/14)
  11. I was obsessed with fuel consumption before I bought mine as I'd read so many posts of 200 miles/£85 fill ups and I can't stomach that. I've had mine about 1,000 miles now. Using it daily and doing a short commute to work with a few spirited drives I got 300-350 miles to a tank. I recently drove 170 miles and stuck to 65 mph most of the way with a couple of quicker blasts towards the end. I got 33mpg. I then drove home at 80mph for the majority of the 170 miles and I got 31mpg. I don't think that's bad at all to be honest!
  12. Hi, please could you pm me a price for all items required for a p3 services? I'm also interested in a price on spark plugs and auxiliary belts please? Thanks!
  13. Thanks. Can it be used as a measure of engine health?
  14. Apologies if this has already been covered, I have tried a search but it doesn't give me an exact answer! I'm hoping someone with some technical/theoretical knowledge can educate me please! I'm wondering what creates oil pressure in the engine and whether this is a mechanical component such as a pump or simply the movement of the engine parts? To what extent should oil level affect oil pressure? The reason I ask is that I recently topped my oil level up and noticed that the oil pressure average rose by about 10psi. Should that happen? The pressure range seems to be between 30-90psi with the car sitting at 30psi at tick over, 60psi cruising at 60mph/2,000rpm and never going above 90 between 3-6,000rpm. If oil is getting past the piston rings will that be reflected in oil pressure and can a compression test result be related to oil pressure? Finally, assuming the pressure is proportional to oil level......what happens if you over fill the oil level and how quickly does it go bang (if that's what happens?) Thanks in advance if you've read this far!
  15. That's great, thanks. I'll drop them a line!
  16. Thank you, looks sweet. At the moment it all looks in tact although I know that it isn't. It'll probably bother me more knowing that it's not right than the problems it'll cause not being right; something to do with OCD I guess. If I fitted a grille such as the one you suggest could I remove the damaged part or would it need to remain in-situ?
  17. I managed to hit a grouse yesterday whilst out on an early morning blast. Blooming thing just jumped out of the hedge and gave me no time to react! Anyway, it managed to lodge itself between the front grille and, in the process, snap some of the plastic mountings. So, my questions are: 1. If I walk into a Nissan dealer and ask for a replacement part how much is it likely to cost? 2. What options do I have in fitting aftermarket alternatives whilst keeping the original bumper? 3. There are two black intake vents; one at each side of the grille. The left hand unit has come away and is currently loose. It appears that it fixes via three (possibly two) plastic bolts at the top. If the description is good enough to explain what I'm referring to does anyone know the part number for these (and approximate costs). Thanks in advance!
  18. I'll be looking for a P3 service shortly and wondered if anyone can recommend an independent in or around Suffolk? I'm in Bury St Edmunds. Thanks in advance!
  19. Having lusted after a zed since first seeing one 11 years ago in New Zealand I am finally the proud owner of an '07 Roadster bought from this very forum. All I can say is that it was worth the wait! I've only had it 24 hours but I'm already in love with it. And I'm amazed how many of the things that I've read on the forum have already happened to me...... 1. When I took it into work one of my work mates said "nice car, what is it". 2. When I went out for a quick blast at lunchtime some one in a chavvy Mazda MX5 tried to race me. 3. I've already started to say that the extra road tax is only a couple of tanks of fuel when talking to people about the running costs. 4. I park in remote corners of car parks. I had been really worried about running costs as I'm a bit of a tight arse with vehicles generally. On the 170 mile drive back from Hampshire I did a steady 70mph for the majority as my wife was following in her old Peugeot and I managed just over 33mpg which I was dead impressed with! This has since dropped quite substantially and I'm already more interested in enjoying it rather than the costs of ownership. My first impressions are that the car is really solidly put together and has a quality feel to it. This may be because I'm coming from a Prius (!!) but to me it feels awesome. I had reservations about the wind noise based on a previous Roadster I'd test driven. This one is much more acceptable and was very comfortable over the 170 mile jaunt. I wanted a HR engine if I was paying the higher road tax but my budget wouldn't stretch and condition/service history/mileage were more important to me. Big thanks to Zeddy Addict for a nice smooth deal and fingers crossed I can get some decent miles out of it before I incur my first big bill. I already enquired at the Nissan dealer how much a P3 will be in January and was told £390. I guess I'll be looking for a decent independent in Suffolk then! I'm rambling now but I'm just very excited at finally getting what is to me my dream car! And I look forward to becoming more active on the form now, hopefully not with a catalogue of issues....

    As it's pre-March 06 it'll be £285 for 12 months. Bargain!
  21. It was bad enough to make me think the windows weren't seated properly but not bad enough that I couldn't hold a conversation with the passenger easily. It was very windy during the drive and I think cross winds were more noticeable than those generated through the forward movement of the car. If that makes sense!?
  22. I had a test drive of a roadster yesterday which was my first time in a convertible. I loved it and may well be buying it in the next couple of days BUT I wanted to check one thing before I do. How much wind noise should there be? Sat at 70mph with the roof up it sounded like one of the windows was slightly open but they weren't! Is that right? If not, any idea what the cost of resolving any issues would be? The roof is in good condition and the mechanism operated as it should. All comments gratefully received!
  23. Last time I boasted about having no points I got three the following day for using my phone. Felt like such a tool that I certainly learnt my lesson! And I no longer comment on the state of my licence for fear of it happening again! But it was more than 3 years ago so you can probably guess my current total. Aside from feeling like a prize tool, sending my licence in to get the points added coincided with a trip to Vegas where I'd hired a Zed for a trip to the Grand Canyon. So I turned up at the Hertz desk with no paper licence and was dreading them telling me to sling my hook. Fortunately they didn't and the trip was awesome!!!
