  1. right, its seems that i had an imbecile attack!! its actually the HID bulb that wasnt lighting up! has this blown - is the black/brown part normal? Can anyone confirm whether its a 4300k etc by the number on there? Cheers
  2. errr, how would i do that? Do you know if theres polarity on the bulb? The "old" bulb has a creamy coloured mark in it btw...almost like its overheated or something. The filament is intact.
  3. the low beam is standard as far as i know. just 2 wires going straight into it. The high beam has a silver box on the back of it so im guessing thats xenon? it looks like this:
  4. hi all, The passenger side low beam isnt working on my 53 JDM Ive tried changing the bulb and changing the fuse but still no good. Now i thought this was odd - the bulb were both getting hot/warm but still not coming on (maybe the wrong polarity causing this?) Anyone ideas? Cheers Mark
  5. i feel like a naughty school boy whos been told! Good thing mind. I was intending to change in a month but looks like gonna alot quicker now. Cheers for feedback fellas.
  6. Hey All, Got uneven tyre wear on front tyres. MOT coming up - I understand that in order to pass a tyre must have atleast 1.6mm of tread with 3/4 of the mid section of the tyre. Ive attached a pic - doya think this would fail? It near the end of its life i know but didnt want to replace just yet. Cheers! Mark
  7. Its time for front brake pad change! Ive got a 52 JDM, none Brembo, can anyone confirm if pads are the same as UK spec pads? Recommend a supplier anyone? Cheers Mark
  8. hi all, How do you remove the wing badges? Do they pop off or glued. Maybe bolted from the back? cheers
  9. managed to get a guide - bumper and light needs removing by looks of it, unless anyone can tell me otherwise Maybe its easier to remove wings?
  10. Is it straight forward to remove or partially "lift up" the headlamps in order to be able to properly paint the wings? Guide anyone? Cheers!
  11. updated... Windscreen replaced by AA Auto Windshields in the end. They only offer a call out service, which is actually better cuz you can keep an eye on them if youre paranoid. The glass was UK equivalent, none OEM, green tint, and fitted fine. The fact that the previous windscreen was heated (wiper areas only) didnt matter. All in all a good service and everyone i spoke to was genuinely helpful and knowledable.
  12. Having trouble getting a windscreen replacement on my JDM! Windscreen is heated and apparantly has an in-built aerial (AA Windscreens inspected it) - Theres 2 "flat wires" running up one side. (im not convinced myself it is an aerial as it seems to share the same circuit as the wiper heating "section") Has anyone actually had a UK windscreen fitted instead of a heated JDM one? How many radio aerials does a 350z have/need? (im assuming just one - JDM still has one on the back nearside quarter) To see if the glass circuit effects the radio or car electrics in anyway i want to disconnect it completely - does anyone know how i access the connecting block? cheers!
  13. JDM spec for my car says "UV-cut green glass" - im assuming the green refers to the colour and not anything else?! My front windscreen looks clear compared to the side windows. Theres a possibility that they fitted the wrong one last time though.
  14. found an excellent site which lists spec for all fairlady z (aswell as a load of other JDMs) Turns out mine has green tint (thats what i wouldve putmy money on!) http://www.j-garage.com/nissan/z/spec1.htm
  15. the windscreen company is mobile only and based up north and im in west midlands - they didnt offer to come out just to check, might be able to twist their arm though, otherwise might see if my insurers will let me use another firm.
  16. I need to get my windscreen replaced on my JDM (cracked by stone). Windscreen company have asked if its tinted ...green or bronze etc. To be honest i cant really tell. Should it be really obvious if its tinted? Anyone know if gun metal JDMs are tinted as standard? Cheers
  17. Tint colour..... Spoke to a knowledable bloke at RAC Autoglass who asked about if the glass had a slight tint. To be honest im not sure...if anything i would have said it had a slight green tint. He said the UK ones have a green tint, which if you put in a car with say a bronze tint would stand out. Can anyone confirm if JDMs have green tint as standard?
  18. found a UK supplier of 350z heated windscreens. Dont think they are OEM but might allow UK spec owners to go heated if they want to: www.heatedwindscreen.com
  19. update.... Spoke to my Insurers (Markerstudy) recommended windscreen suppliers, Auto Wind Shields, who have said that there are 9 variations in the windscreen on the JDM and basically theyre not prepared to order one from Japan incase it the wrong one! lol. I had it replaced by RAC 2 years ago and they mananged to identify and source the right one! Anyway, Auto Wind Shields said that a UK screen will fit no problem, will probably go ahead rather than asking if my insurer if they will let me go to RAC as its alot less waiting.
  20. Just got another nice 6" crack on my windscreen from a stone on the M6!! The first one was the second week i had the car (2 years ago) and now just before im selling it!! Anyway, does anyone know if a UK windscreen will fit my 52 plate JDM? The one i have now is heated which i dont believe UK models are (can anyone confirm?). From past experience its taken a month to get a like for like replacement imported from Japan which id rather avoid.
  21. what about from a resale point of view? Think its something most people notice?
  22. hey all, Shortly im having the bonnet and wings resprayed on my gun metal JDM. The bodyshop will be removing the wing mirrors and door trim to blow back into the doors. The front bumper is fine with no noticeable stone chips, but one thing i was concerned about is the risk of poor colour match and the bumper standing out a mile after the repray. What do people thing on getting the bumper done also - likely to cost another £150- £200, do you think its unnecessary? Cheers! Mark
  23. is smart repair ok for noticeable areas such as the bonnet...i always thought it was only suitable for bumpers and lower down areas?
  24. Looking for a gun metal grey bonnet in excellent condition and without need for a respray (must be original paintwork and not had respray already) Its to go on my 52 JDM. West Midlands Area. Thanks All! Mark
