LloydZee Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Hi everyone I have noticed today that my front discs have started to 'stain' or 'mark' exactly the same as eachother. It is definitely not a groove as I run my hands across the marks. What could it be? What does it mean? I have EBC Red Stuff pads and standard discs. Cheers in advance. Quote
BulletMagnet Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Were the pads bedded in properly? I suggest doing a bed in cycle and see if it improves as I think the discs look very "clean". After bedding in they should not be shiny as a layer of brake material has been applied. 1 Quote
Netnomad Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I guess it the groove on the pads, see link below http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/290989094446?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0 Quote
LloydZee Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 I bedded them in with 10 x low speed (20 to 5mph) and 10 x 60 to 5 mph stops. This was a few months ago now and they've only just started doing this. Quote

I bed mine in every couple of months (DBA T3 discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads all round) 1 Quote
LloydZee Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Oh ok, I never realised that. So you think it's worth re-bedding/heavy braking next time I drive it? Quote
BulletMagnet Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Yeah, that's the first thing I would try Quote
LloydZee Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Ok will try that. If not, maybe it's an excuse for uprated discs Quote
craigm Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 It must be the pads if it is the same on each side - i'd pop the pads out and have a look to make sure they are all clean etc Quote
Daryl Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Take the pads out, and see if there is anything trapped/caught in the pad. I had this, and ended up witha ring, though it was not in the middle like that. When i took the pad out, there was a lump of something holding the pad off, which is what was causing the ring, as the pad was not making 100% contact. Quote
cmck13 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I agree, first whip off the pads and have a good look, secondly Ive always used this for breaking in procedures. http://www.350z-uk.com/index.php?showtopic=18649 Quote
