CrustyCrab Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) So a few weeks ago I purchased the Meguiar's headlamp restorer kit. Comes with 4 grades of wet and dry paper, polishing compound and a polishing head that fits in a drill. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/car-cleaning-accessories/exterior-cleaning/car-detailer/?549773401&0&cc5_761 Finally had a chance to give it a go last night after it had cooled down. I must say it's pretty decent. I didn't spend too long per lamp (30 mins a side maybe) but you can really see the difference. Just did what the instructions said and it worked a treat. I still have some material on the pads and about half the compound left so I'll probably give it another go with the really fine stuff and a final polish in a week or so. Then a quick wash to get rid of any left over residue Edited July 28, 2014 by CrustyCrab Quote
Toadfish Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Nice work, much improved! I really need to do this on mine, thinking about getting the same kit or the 3M and then some sealant. Quote
coldel Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Is that PlastX? I bought a bottle of that off ebay for about £8 - does come up nice! Quote
CrustyCrab Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Plast-rx I think it is called. I'm pretty sure it's just a really fine polish. I'm going to get my self some more 3000 grit paper for when I need to do it again. The advantage of buying the kit is it all comes together but to be honest you could buy the buffer and paper separately and get the same results. Quote
BulletMagnet Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 You should consider a UV plastic sealant to protect your hard work. Did the same as you and then finished the job with some GTechnic C4 sealant Quote
