Headunit issue

I am assuming this is a wiring issue, but figured I would ask here before I rip the dash apart...

 

Car is a 2002 jap import... has an Alpine headunit and the headunit resets itself (losing all settings) every time the ignition is switched off.

 

Thoughts?

There are usually two 12v wires going to the HU, one permanent and one on ignition. permanent feed usually for power to retain memory.

May be as simple as switching the two power feeds around

Sounds like the simplest explanation... any fuses worth checking (and their location)?

Usually, there is a fuse on the permanent feed on the HU harness behind the HU (white plastic thing, opens bajonet style)

Yeah likely causes is as above, on the alpine headunit if they have been fitted with the alpine loom, they normally have a bullet connection to allow you to change the ign wire and perm live to resolve this issue.
