Complete loss of electrical system.

Hi,

On 2 separate occasions now I've encountered this problem.

When returning to car and trying to start you see a quick flash of dash lights then blank, every electrical system fails, no lights no powered seats nothing.

I've solved this problem on both occasions by having a rattle around the battery bay and then all is good again, obviously something is not making good connection somewhere but i cant spot it.

Anyone else had this issue? Any help or suggestions welcome.

First thing to try is to remove the battery leads, clean up the terminals and the clamps with emery and vaseline those items before reassembly. When you remove the earth lead check it is sound, including the connection to the chassis.

 

Could be the battery internals are cracked, or lacking distilled water, the latter you should be able to check.

 

Or the battery is simply on its last legs
