2004 GT Steering wheel lock not working...

Had a quick search and did find a few people mentioning a similar issues but no mention of the cause or solution.

 

Anyway, as the title says, when I remove the key I cannot get the steering wheel to lock at all. Is this a well known fault? If so anyone know the cause or fix?

Try both directions with the wheel, it can take quite a turn to engage.

I'll give it another go later, not really tried since I first bought the car and noticed it but I did give it a good turn and just didn#t seem right! I'll let you know how I get on!
