Replacing the Bose CD and Tape player

Evening all.

I have a 2005 roadster with the Bose CD and Tape player as it came, with the cubby hole above it as attached pic.

 

 

I am wanting to pull this out and replace with a more modern system with satnav screen.

 

I assume I can pull the CD/Tape out and replace with some sort of infill to take a single CD/MP3 player?

 

Anyone have any pics to show me what you have done?
