Sky + Box

Calling all you tech geeks

 

We have Sky + in our living room. We have a standard digi box in our bedroom. The Mrs would like a Sky + box upstairs. Been looking at some on eBay and it seems simple enough? Can I just buy a new Sky + box to replace the digibox? Can I use the card in the digibox in the sky + box?

Any other possible problems?

You can use the card but you will have to phone sky up to give them the new serial number of your new sky + box, they only work with the matched receiver. Changing boxs i am not sure about as i thought that sky + boxs worked with 2 cables from the LNB.

Confirmed, you need 2 feeds from the LNB.

 

I have a similar problem - communal feed from the satellite on the building (flats) so only 1 feed meaning I can't have sky+ but I believe that can now be overcome.

 

Need a satellite engineer to run you another feed mate

That is a very good item as it as a very low db rating, the lower this number the better the picture you will have

Ok. So logistically how do you go about fitting this? I'm assuming you have to clamber up a ladder to the mini dish

Yes just unscrew old lnb and replace with new one, then you will have to run 2 more sat cables to your new box , you will need 4 f connectors and some proper sat cable for this
