Wheel refurb - S.E.M, Sunderland

Hi all,

Just got off the phone with S.E.M in Sunderland who I think I have seen mentioned on here before.

Quoted £235 for all four wheels (18" Rays) to be refurbed, which I think is a decent price?

Does anyone have any experience of them? Also, they will need my wheels for 3 days, im wondering do they stock replacement wheels or keep the car up there or is it a case of me needing to sort something out myself?

Forgot to ask those questions on the phone, though it was a pretty horrible connection so woulda been there for a while I think!

Any ideas?

Decent price, but 3 days? What are you getting done. Romax offer £50 a corner and same day turn around. You should give them a shout. Its a little bit further away but get your car day the same day

Is that a "complete" refurd? IE, tyres off the rims?

If you are on about Romax then yes. Its stipped, refurbed, powerder coated and balanced all in one day. They do alot of work for the car dealerships around the area and the work is best to none

he price was for a full refurb, yes. The Wheel Specialist quoted themselves out of the picture at £376 :S

I have heard mixed reports about Romax, though mostly good. May give them a shout.

I've just e-mailed Rimfurbish based on a thread at Detailing World. They offer wheel exchange and collection / delivery services so we will see what they have to say.

Also dipped my foot in the water re: possible club discounts / step by step with pictures showing the work carried out..

I have not used SEM but when I was looking at getting mine refurbed I researched them thoroughly and found nothing but excellent reports, with people travelling from all over to use them. In the end I didnt get them done as im "supposed" to be selling the car so dont really be wanting to spend any more money on it but if I do I will defo be using SEM.

Another option is to get hold of a spare set of wheels to use during the refurb................ I just so happen to have some for sale if your interested ;) and Im only down the road in Hpool.
