Car Detailing Shopping List

Hey Folks,

I have read quite a few of the topics on here and was just wondering...

What products do you all have in your detailing kit?

Not just polishes and waxes but clothis, window cleaners, alloy cleaners, what do you use on your chrome etc?

Ben.

I use:-

Mequires Clay bar.

Meguires 3 step cleaning system.

Dojo Juice car shampoo.

Noodle mitt from halfords.

Mequires alloy wheel cleaner.

Hotshots tyre shine.

Windowlean wipes for windows

Armour all for internal plastics.

Micro-fiber cloths for drying.

Cotton cloths for end polishing.

Buff daddy mechanical polisher.

Meguires swirl X to get rid of swirl marks.

I dont use the "2 bucket method".

I dont use jet wash's, think they are sh1t.

I dont use or like snow foam, again lots of cash for little result. Tried it once thought it was sh1t, although some swear by it.

Black liquid boot polish on the leather seats.

Never use a sponge!

I have detailing brush's for the alloys.

Think thats about my shopping list of goodies...

Hope this helps...

First time I've heard a negative on a snow foam. What was the matter with it?? If it really is that poor I won't bother. Sorry for highjack.

Snow foam........I was fortunate enough to be loaned the lance and snow foam liquid to "try it out".

Now, i was expecting the car to come out gleaming once the foam had worked its magic. Alas, how dissapointed I was

All it did IMO was make a pretty white ring of foam around the car, all the dirt that was there before, remained there after.

I have been told that snow foam is to "reduce" contact time on the vehicle with a cloth, hence reducing the amount of swirls you could get.

TBH, i was glad i used the equipment on loan before buying it, because had i bought it I would have been so

My advice, try before you buy.......If you can.

As i said, this is my opinion and sure others wont agree, but was i being too expectant......Hmmm yes I think so.

So far, i have accumulated the following:

- Snowfoam lance/snowfoam/karcher washer (snowfoam doesnt really make the car look cleaner after you rinse it off IMO, it takes all the loose bits of grit/muck off the paint before you wash it)

- 2 buckets/grit guard/meguiars microfibre wash mitt/meguiars shampoo plus

- Clean your car massive waffle weave drying towel/meguiars last touch detailer

- bilberrys wheel cleaner in spray bottle with chemical resistant head/EZ detail brush/soft bristled detailing brush (for by the wheel nuts)

- Valet pro Citrus tar remover

- meguiars APC with a foaming spray bottle/megs slide lock brush for the badges/gaps between panels/light clusters etc.

- dodo juice lime prime

- panel pot of dodo juice supernatural (which will prob do the whole car about 5 times over!)

- megs foam applicators

- megs soft microfibre applicators

- loads of microfibre towels/cloths (the ones from asda in a roll of 6 - not bad at all)

- dodo juice metal polish (not used this yet)

- dodo juice red mist (not as easy to use as last touch)

- dodo juice mellow yellow wheel cleaner (dont like this, smells nasty)

- Rain-x

- meguiars cleaner wax (i used this before i got supernatural)

- some detailing swabs

- various spray bottles with some of the above products in them

- meguiars quik clay kit with the quik detailer (bloody great stuff, only doesn't last long)

think that's about it!

if you want to know about any of the products just ask, i dont claim to know alot about them, but i can tell you what my opinion is after using them.

snow is not meant to clean the car without you putting any work in! It's there to remove some of the surface dirt and bits so that when you wash it afterwards theres not as much crap on there to push around the paintwork.

Regardless of what it does though, it looks cool when you cover your car in foam! :p

I love snow foam, wouldnt do without it. i know its abit gimmicky but it definately does a job. if you jet wash your car first and see what marks are left, then snow foam it leave for a few mins then jet wash it again the marks that wouldnt come off before now come off with ease and thats before you have even touched the car physically thus meaning your not rubbing that dirt all over the paintwork causing swirls etc.

anyway just my 2p worth

here is my method and products

weekly wash

rinse - karcher 3.97 jetwash

foam and leave to stand for 5-10mins (autosmart snow foam lance and autobrite super snow foam)

rinse - as above

foam and wash with mitt with 2 bucket method- as above + wookie mitt/lambswool mitt

rinse - as above

clean wheels - autobrite britegel + 99p wheel brush from poundstretcher (very good)

rinse wheels

dry with water magnet type cloth thing.

other products i use less regularly

autosol on exhausts

aerospace 303 on all rubbers and plastics

menzerna 3.02 and Mcallistar DA polisher

Collinite 476s (imo the best and most durable wax ever - wax twice a year and it beads throughout)

bilt hamber autoclay

autoglym tyre dressing (not the best but got it cheap)

autoglym fast glass ((not the best but got it cheap)

rain x (very good product)
