Mine used a bit until it reached 8000 mile when it used a mineral oil (better for running in). Then changed to Amsoil fully synthetic and it stopped using oil ever since

Mine (late 2003) doesnt use any at all over 5000 miles and I wouldnt do much over 5000 before changing the oil as its easy to do and costs very little!
