dominicwellsuk Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Pretty much all the time there is a horrible rattle or clanging coming from the underfloor. Sounds like something is very loose but I've had it up on a 4 poster and no joy in spotting it. Sounds it's worst when the enginer comes under sudden load, i.e. low revs, high gear sharp pulling away, and i can also induce it by dropping the clutch very quickly in first. Sometimes it lingers like something is hanging loose, flapping and clanging away. Quite a worrying noise. Anyone got any ideas? Quote

Cheesypuff Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Bet its the exhaust, I had exact same symptoms. The pipe off the back box has a flange at the end and the weld from the pipe to flange had sheered off completely. You couldnt see much of a gap only when you wiggled the back box around you could see its detached from the flange and was rattling around against it. As I said mine only made the rattling clanging noise in the exact same circumstances as you decsribed, cruising along or even on fairly bumpy roads it was quiet. Quote
