Faulty passenger side window

Just a quick question to those who have bought or a word of warning to those who are about to buy a 370z. Has anyone had issues with the passenger side window not going back up after opening and closing? The window drops down as normal but when the door is shut again it doesnt go back up. It keeps dropping down every time you open and close it until the window is fully open!!! I only found this out the morning after a rainy night  . Typical car salesmen didnt give a flying f**k when i rang in about it and told me to ring the servicing dept, so much for after sales service. :bang: Anyway its booked in for when i get back from work in a couple of weeks so i'll let you know what is said.

Not good to hear bud. Have you tried a window reset? I hear the instructions are in the manual. Have you had the battery disconnected for any reason? You need to do the reset afterwards otherwise this kind of thing can happen. Give the reset a go, at least it should put it back up again to the proper level until you get it into the garage.

Hi mine did this when I got it home from the dealer, as said before you have to reset the window by lowering it fully then raising it by holding the switch and hold it for 5 seconds after it has stopped..

Worked for mine anyway...

carryover is the cheapest way yes and something like a window regulator is a prime example of easy carryover, especially as the whole window switching system isnt very complex on the zed meaning it wouldnt take a giant leap to include it on the architecture of the new vehicle. I'd be curious how much has been carried over bringing the old niggles into the new product?

If I pull my door apart to sound deaden it, I'll take lots of pics for you to compare. Personally I would expect there to be a lot the same in there. At least we know how to fix it though

sound deadening for audio purposes? :teeth:

Audio as in making the interior quieter for my commutes  I planned to do it in the current Zed and never got around to it. With the strut bar missing and not torneu cover in the 370z, I'm expecting sound levels to be louder than I'm used to in the current car, so fully expecting to sound deaden it.

No strut bar to put it under makes it hard to seal up against the boot lid. I guess you could knock something up, but I'll just cover the interior in Second Skin instead

I have to say I have no complaints regarding excessive cabin noise (road noise or engine) yet, granted I've only done 300 miles on mine so far but did MK to Hemel today down the M1 and then back up the A5 and I really didn't notice it being any worse than the 350 was. Can barely hear the exhaust but I'm still keeping it under 4000rpm so maybe I'll hear the engine once I can open her up a bit more.

I haven't disconnected the battery, however the garage may have when they fitted the illumentated door sills. I managed to get the window back up with the door shut and closing via the drivers door switch. I'll have to wait till i get back from work to give the reset a go. Cheers for the help everyone, i'm still going to have to take it back into the garage anyway to get the mud guards painted because i didn't specify i wanted them doing when ordering the car  It'd of been nice for them to say that its only optional when i bought it like!!!

Ah the sill guards would have meant they disconnected the battery. A window reset and a poke in their eye next time you see them will be order of the day. Cant beleive they didnt paint your mud guards either :bangin:

  • 1 month later...

I got my mudguards sorted in the end didn't have to pay either which the head of sales threatened to do. Seriously if anyone is from the NE area don't go to Evans Halshaw Middlesbrough they are a bunch of clowns!!! First off I asked them last august if they'd be getting in the 370z to sell, they said no it'll be performance specialists only i.e closest to me was Newcastle. when I dropped my old 350z off for a service in september low and behold there was a bright yellow 370z sat in the showroom!! I eventually decided to buy one in March. I had the intention to buy the 40th Anniversary Edition which is cool btw or a white 370z gt pack with sat nav. So when discussing with the salesman colours etc i mentioned the Black (40th ann) edition to which he replied theres no chance of getting one in, so as i was impatient and really liked the white i went for that instead. Then when i dropped my car off a couple of weeks later to get the mudguards painted low and behold a nice shiny Black edition is sat in the showroom, bunch of nob heads!!!! To top it all off the bodywork/painter doesnt work thurs apparantely so i had to go back the next day :bang:

The manager phoned a couple of days after that to ask about the service i received and i certainly didn't hold back. He said one final question... Would you recommend friends or family to purchase a car from Evans Halshaw? I just laughed and hung up
