MSN issues

Wondering if anyone can shed some light on my problem. I have a laptop which runs msn just fine but can't seem to get it to run on my desktop PC for some reason. It's installed but won't stay logged in. It loads up the Sign In screen and when I click on sign in, it does so, loads up my contacts and then flicks back to the login screen. I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it, turned off my firewalls, virus detectors etc but I can't seem toget it to work.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it may be or how to fix it as it is rather frustrating.

Cheers

is it only msn that's playing up or are you noticing other things like web pages hanging or failing? if so it could be your network adapter or reception if you're running a wireless connection.

failing that, try fully removing MSN if you haven't already. There are more parts to it than just messenger such as the Windows Live Sign-in Assistant and Windows Live Essentials

hmmm... unfortunately, live is some of the most frustrating software i've come accross. in the IT dept at work, one of our PC's wont install it at all and mine wont let me click the envelope to check my mail. between me, 2 other devs and the systems admin, none of us have got it sorted! some serious gremilins in there!!

having said that, i would try uninstalling all the live software, reinstalling/reparing the .net 3.5 runtime and checking that your network device drivers are up to date (if the pc is new and they were installed from a disk that came with it, then they're probably out of date).

once you've done that, try installing messenger again. it's tedious, but might solve your problem
