HELP Fiat Punto 1.2 2000

Right then my mrs has a punto and the power steering light keeps coming on.

 

I've read the codes and the first 1 is : P0600 Serial Communications Link Malfunction

 

The second code is P0093 fuel system leak (large)

 

There doesnt appear to be any leakage or loss in performance and the steering feels fine.

 

A garage has said it could require a new column as all the parts are integrated as it is electric not hydraulic and this would cost approx £650. (which she cant afford)

 

Anyone have any experience with this problem on a previous car or their run around?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Fiat did have a lot of problems with there power steering units. Try BBA reman website and have a read of this link http://www.bba-reman.com/forums/topic55293-1-1.aspx .
