I think the only way it would work effectively would be if you had cues to other's people's actions rather than just the end result. Pretty sure that's not that easy to achieve though because you'd need to know they were typing, whether they had stopped typing (to re-consider) and how much they were gonna type, that kind of stuff. ATM there are no cues, so its a free for all

chat is great, has lots of features and people not older than 30 that use the internet normally will be familiar with that type of thing....

 

on the other hand OAPs like lomoto or cast-offs like Sarnie might find it unbearable...
