Trog Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I'm planning my trip to France in the Z in September (St Malo, Bordeaux, Bergerac,, Millau, Montpelleir, Monaco, Monte carlo, Gorges du Verdon, St Tropez, Nice, Cannes, Antibes St.Ettienne, Orleans and back to St.Malo) + any other suggestions peeps have? Any ideas on the cheapest Ferry crossing. I've planned my trip to start and end in St.Malo, so I guess St.Malo, Caen or Le Harve would be good ports, but I can't find a decent price? Anyone got a good website to compare best prices? I also fancied the Chunnel, but it's too far up really. Any advice/help from previous experiences would be appreciated. Cheers Ade Quote
lomoto Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Always gone Dover/ Calais , myself when going to France , or Portsmouth / Bibao to Spain(bloody expensive though this crossing in the Summer ! ) Quote
steve_b Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I use the tunnel all the time now. Biggest benefit is if you are either late or early you can move the booking. Sometime there is even a train every 30 and 17 mins. If you miss the ferry you will wait ages. After about 10 trips I think I have made my original booking time just once. (Normally book it for latter in case of trouble, but turn up early) Given the distance you will cover in France, the extra 100 miles from Calais down will not matter. (unless you really have to go to St Malo) Just my 2 cents worth. Steve Quote
