Tappet Noise

Guys,

 

I have read the topic entitled 'Engine making ticking noise and using more oil than normal' and think that I may have a similar problem.

 

I took my 350 to Tony at Abbey Motorsport who was extremely helpful. He is predicting it is the tappets as well but suggested that I change the oil to either Castrol Edge 10W 50 or 20W 60 - he has said this will reduce the noise - will this work??

 

Does anyone have any thoughts on this and want to know whether this oil is acceptable and safe to use on the 350.

 

The noise is irritating but Abbey have said it is not dangerous.

 

Please give me some thoughts.

I wouldnt use that grade of oil in a lawn mower let alone a Z!
