Traktion Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I need to get my car serviced and I want to provide my own oil. So, I need 4.7l of 5w-40 (so says y'all in another thread)? I've just been on Opie oils and the Motuls only come in 4 litres, but the Silkolene have 5 litres tubs, so I figured the latter is best. Would a 5 litre Silkolene Pro S 5W-40 do a good job then? Thanks Quote
Traktion Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 P.S. It's for the P2, 18k service. I had it serviced at 12k when I bought it (but I think it'd been done at 9k anyway) as I got a good deal on it, but I think I need this one on time for warranty reasons. Quote
Removed Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 should do mate. Not heard anyone using it but according to Oilman it's as good as the Motul (implying it's the fully synth one) PS I like the 6 litres (in 2 litres bottles)Motul as it's quite useful to have extra Litre to top up every once in a while Quote
Kev946 Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I use Silkolene Pro S in my Cossie and will be using this in the Zed at it's first service. I was recommended this by an Subabru Specialist when I had my Impreza and they use it for the Group N Rally Car. Like Motul it's a fully esther based synthetic. I'm told some fully synthetics aren't. I'm no expert but it works on my Cossie and that puts out many more bhp than the Zed and runs much hotter. Quote
Guest prescience Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I use it in mine - which is supercharged. Quote
Jacko Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 While we are on this subject, I got my car serviced as part of the deal.... But was just wondering, i'm not sure what oil they used exactly (I suppose I could try to find out but being a Nissan dealer, I'm not holding out for a quick and easy response ) but was wondering, if my oil level drops a little..... Can I put some of the Silkolene stuff in and mix with the others, or should I just do a full oil change and put in the full amount with the Silkolene?? What do you guys reckon? Quote
Guest prescience Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 No problem mixing synthetics - in fact you can mix synthetic and mineral see this thread under 'Synthetic Myths' http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54 Quote

God knows They did it early at 6500 miles, rather than 9000 ... Suppost I'm a little worried that I don't know, might make a trip to the dealer and stand in front of them till they tell me. Quote
Guest prescience Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 yes you must have a docket telling you how much they charged and at least from that they should be able to work it out (if they don't have the precise info. already) Quote

I managed to haggle it in the price of buying the car. They should have it on the computer though so will go and ask.... Quote
