new wheels!

Its just one thing after another of late! - After finally getting my windscreen replaced when a nice huge crack appeared after hitting a stone on the M6 (rac windscreens did a great job btw), i then got a puncture! Its in the tyre wall so its a complete new tyre which im not happy about!

It a JDM with 17" wheels, with orginal Bridgstone Potenza RE040's which i know are supposed to be poor, especially in the wet. The tyre with puncture is the rear nearside - 235/50/17.

Will i be able to fit a different sized tyre to the rim and will it effect the speedo readings?

Im toying with getting some used 18" alloys and tyres (stock ones) as you can pick them up dirt cheap with good tread tyres. WIll this effect the speedo rating too?

What kind of costs are involved in getting the speedo recalibrated if need to?

cheers

Mark
