Replacing steering rack

Hi all,

 

Had a search for this and couldn't find anything. My 56 model rev-up is leaking pas fluid and told I need to change the steering rack and wondered what the compatibility is. Are they the same as other DE models or rev-up specific?

There are two types of rack for the 350Z.

 

The early cars were fitted with a standard hydraulic rack whilst the later models had electric assist.

 

Easy to tell the difference as one has a small wiring loom whereas the other does not.

Thanks Alex. Do you know which mine is likely to have? It's in the garage still so I can't easily check it. Were they de/hr specific or was there an overlap period?

I think that there is an overlap, but all the HRs definitely have the loom so you will have to  carry a visual check to be sure I am afraid.
