Tracking

Just after some advice, took my 350z to get the tracking done but they couldn’t adjust the rear as the bolts just spin. My mechanic replied with, ‘Sorry no, I believe the sub frame is aluminium  which is why the bolts don't adjust very well, I can't weld aluminium with my stuff,  the bolts obviously need to rotate in the aluminium part to adjust the geo but the aluminium is very soft so the lugs don't really support the bolt properly’. Just wondering if it’s worth getting new bolts or will I have the same problem?

Your mechanic may be referring to the flats on the subframe which the adjusting washer pushes against to make the adjustments.

The subframe is aluminium and so are the flats and I think that he is saying that the flats have lost there edge so the adjusting snail cam washer is not making good contact when the bolt is turned.

Welding can be done to reinstate the edge but it is a specialist repair.

The other options are to just fit a good preowned subframe which I have in stock.

Or you could replace the adjusting bolts and washers with lock out bolts and washers and then fit adjustable arms which I also have in stock.

If you require more clarification on this just drop me a PM.

All parts are in stock and good to go same/next day.

The rear toe adjustment is made by adjusting the rear mid link by the bolt in the subframe.

If the edges are off the subframe flats then you have the options as listed above.

Some prices for you:

1 x good preowned rear subframe: £75.00

1 x new tow bolt kit (for both sides) £32.00

1 x new lock out bolt kit. £65.00

2 x rear adjustable rear mid links (for toe adjustment) retaining the OEM spring position. £760.00

The replacement subframe and the new toe bolt kit is the way to go.

All the above parts are in stock so just drop me a PM if you wish to proceed.
