Rpm Idleness

Hi Guys,

 

Just a quick question,

 

What should my car be idling at, and more specifically just after i turn the engine over, sometimes it sits at about 12-1300 and sometime 900 rpm...

 

Anything to worry about?

 

Also, any recomendations on oil?

tickover once warm is just under 700 with the aircon on. Nearer 600 with the aircon off. All depend on how cold it is when you start your car and if its garaged.

 

 

10w-40 Silkolene Pro from opie oils is what I use. Around £40 for 5ltr with discount

was worrying me with the rpm idle all over the place...

may be something to do with the MAF sensor. Doesthe tickover seem to be random after it's warmed up and been driven

usually on start up it idles at 1200, and sits there for as long as you sit there, after you start moving it drops to about 6-700 and sits there.

Yeah as said there tock over is nomal, its just the choke but the FI version, it compensates for the engine being cold otherwise it would stall, all cars do this, but its more noticable on a bigger engine as it makes more noise
