Cobra end pipe rattle

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Fitted an excellent condition used Cobra cat back system to my Z a few months ago. Sounds excellent but I've just noticed that one of the bolt-on end pipes has developed a rattle.

Im assuming that i can buy the end pipes from Cobra so what's the best end pipes to buy?

This is what I have at the moment.

It's always going to be down to personal preference in the end. Lots of choices usually revolving around style (slash cut, straight cut, rolled tips, burnt colour tips etc etc) and the material type (stainless steel, titanium, carbon fibre etc etc).

Aren't those welded on though on your backbox?

I know the Ark & Invidia tips are removable/adjustable but didn't think the Cobra ones were that's all.

If it's bolted on as you say then can you not re-tighten the bolt to stop the rattle or do you fancy changing the tips anyway?

The rattle is coming from inside the pipe itself. They just bolt on via an ugly jubilee clip.

I wondered if different tips gave different sounds.

Oh also if you still have your 25 year warranty you may be able to replace em though

Think those lifetime warranties are only covered if he is the original purchaser of the system/exhaust back box.

Lots of those "lifetime" warranties/guarantees are the same. Eg: Non transferable ;)

Do you know where I can buy a pair from?

He did just say he got his from Mitz who is a trader on here, ...The Cougar Store. Maybe best to give him a PM or phone call to see if he can help.

Failing that you could always try a custom exhaust place like "Longlife" for example as they will have plenty of different style tips that they could simply weld onto your Cobra box. Just another alternative. ;)

Mitz had both types of cobra tips in stock during June , I went for the new ones sort of a slash, do you not have the warranty card when you bought the exhaust or not in the receipts when you got car . Cobra did eventually get in touch with me about a replacement part thru warranty (had the card in receipts when buying the car). But took like 3 -4weeks .I had already spoke to mitz and had the tip from him for 3 and a half weeks before they got in touch .

How impatient you are 😀 if like me you like instant gratification speak to mitz ðŸ‘

I realised he said he got them from Mitz but i couldn't find him in the Traders section. I've just found him in the members section though.

Thanks :)
