  1. i think detailing is exactly what is in its name, going into the details such as removing swirls and paint imperfections to make it perfect, working on the grill and other small minute parts.

Not just cleaning the wheels but taking the wheels off, cleaning them fully plus the wheel arch.

Pretty much Detailing is, its all in the minute details being given as much attention as the rest of the car.

When i clean the car or the bike, i give it a "wash" or a "clean" would think i could do a good enough job to call it detailing.

  2. This is from John

Just a note for those of you who didn't get my email from last night, that SIDC have got the circuit booked for our usual 9am to 1pm session on Saturday 10th July.

    Can book here http://www.sidc.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=33

We've also reduced the numbers of cars taking part to try and minimise any possibility of congestion on track. Costs are up slightly at £115 for SIDC/MLR members, and £125 for non members.

Free instruction as always, and Ronnie from Wheels Around will also be in attendance.

    Cheers

    John

  3. I've managed to speak to John Stewart who runs the SIDC days,

they have a day coming up, (think its the 10th) its a 4 hour session and if he gets over 10 newbies, he will make the first 30minutes newbies only, then gradually introduce faster cars which means the newbies can see how the lines are taken. I'll get the link for you to book onto later but it should be quite good to see how people feel about that.

If 30minutes newbie time then onto slightly faster pace works then may just leave it at that, but if the people who attend feel that they felt rushed or nervous as soon as the half hour was over, then i may continue to look into just the beginner days.

  4. the instructors would be available for you to ask them to come out with you, aim to use them for about 4 laps or so, then they can go help someone else whilst you are practising what he said.

Yeah vik they could do the KH training, which iirc is about £120 and its only an hour i think.

this trackday would get them tuition whilst getting to know others who are new on track.

The instructors that i'd be hiring would be the Knockhill staff who know the circuit inside out and i believe all have a racing past.

  5. I only really have a rough price so far, so its not set in stone

would probably be about £100 per car, no charge for passengers.

That would be maximum of 30 cars on track along with having 2 instructors available.

That is a 2 hour evening slot.

Price is quite good, yes some cheaper 2 hours sessions are available but they are based on 40 or 50 cars and you will have faster cars coming up behind you.

I want to make sure new drivers get a decent amount of track time, so would aim to be an open pit lane.

I don't want people to feel pushed by faster cars to drive beyond their limits and wouldn't want the track to be over crowded.

  6. I'd want to try it (i was going to say my local circuit, but its 3hours away, its my home circuit) at Knockhill first but if it takes off then i'd be happy to run it at a few circuits, Such as Anglesey, croft and so on.

but lets see how this takes off first,

    cheers for your input though!

  7. Well after being on this forum for long enough and reading posts regarding Knockhill,

I have spotted that there are a lot of people who want to get on track, but are nervous about it as they are cautious about damage and faster cars.

As stated in many threads Tracks are a safe place to push your car than on the road,

everyone is going the same direction, No Road furniture to hit and no speeding tickets.

Yes you could end up in the gravel if you are pushing beyond your limits, but you should know your limits when your a learner (when you first time you got in a car i doubt you did 120mph sideways, thats cause you know you have a limit)

Well me and a friend are looking at running a Beginner track night at knockhill,

No date is set yet, but the possibility would be 2 hours (maybe 4 dependant on turnout) where it would only be for people who have done under 3 track days. I may be tempted to look into getting an instructor on track to go out and give pointers.

this would mean that the standard of driving on track would be very similar due to the lack of experience. I would aim to get some experienced drivers down to go out in the pax seat and give you pointers regarding braking points, turn in and the line round the corners.

So how many people would be interested? I don't have a price as yet but will post up as soon as i have one.

  8. I did this road (not in a 350z) last weekend, too many cyclists but otherwise weather was amazing.

had to really squeeze up against the rocks for a f430 that came the other way.

Great fun but you need to beware of arseholes who won't move over and want to push through!

  9. Hi Adam,

Only coming out to play if your girlfriend is off the leash

Not signed up for Tuts as yet, as Friday is manic here but never say never.

Also I have Track Scotland on the Saturday.

Would be good to hook up, it has been to long.

    drivingskid.gifdrivingskid.gifdrivingskid.gifdrivingskid.gif

Well hopefully we will see you then, Kat will be there ready to go out pax!

We will be up north on the saturday so track scotland will be quite quiet without the SE'rs.

You've got my number give me a text if your likely to be going!

  10. I have heard that he has Castrol 5w-30 as blood and sleeps with his eyes open.

Sounds like the Stig ;) ...........

he drives like him as well, and used to make his car spit flames on long straights just cause he was that bored at 170mph

  11. or any woman he has taken round knockhill who hasn't come out with crazy messy hair. Its cause he uses the layby round the back to make sure they "enjoy" the lap.

    top bloke

  12. i'd bracket instead of using 1 underexposed image.

as you brighten the 1 underexposed, you will be creating grain in the dark areas.

even shooting in raw, rule of thumb is to not go above 2 stops of exposure.

Tripod and multiple shots is what i did for jays old photos.

  13. be very wary of matt black, it can look mankey dirty all the time and i know how you love a shiny car!

if your staying away from what paul's done, then i'd say make bonnet blade.

there is/was (was when i lived there) a porsche around south side that is matt black, not that bit a fan of it.

  14. altho I am looking into a full car vinyl :ninja:

    Burberry? or rainbow coloured?

I'd say keep bonnet black but get the bumper black to continue from the grill up and inline with the bonnet. will look like a thick racing stripe continuing over the roof and onto the spoiler.

Or get it done in blade?

  15. the iso being 800 will lead to more noise disortion dependant on what camera you are using.

I went through a phase of HDR for a while,

some may recognise this car, newer folk will only know the current style it has

Jesus jay, do you remember those rims :scare::nono::doh:

Major tip is do not over sharpen, as that is what will emphasise the grain appearing.

One thing i will say for it, is enjoy your addiction, then you will get bored of HDR. It can work a lot better when done

in a subtle matter. It really is a case of less is more.

    very little use of hdr

    Range_Rover_Vogue_5_by_ARphotographs.jpg

So over all advice, lower the ISO, use less sharpening and finally, use less HDR to make the image more natural.
