  1. My thanks to Rob as well for organising this - always a lot more effort than any one would believe...

My highlight was taking Zed on track at a very resonable price. Not having owned car very long this was a very quick way to find [somewhere near] it's limits.

It took one session to get some confidence, as the [stock] car is naturally quite 'soft' for circuit use, but once you get used to this it really is a superb 'out of the box' track car. With far more grip, sensitivity and control first impressions give (this is all relative I know but I'm comparing with a much lighter/tighter track car that hasn't got air con !!). My last of three sessions was really great fun, with less cars on the track.

I'm glad I put on at least two essential track mods the day before; nismo accelerator pedal and Ferodo front pads. The latter were smoking with the weight of the Zed - but no fade at all.

Thanks to Richie and Louis for your excellent company, plus Keith and Mark (my track buddy).... and the cake also went down very well.

(Richie - the low price Snell SA2005 helmet is a 'V2' details from IKON at 01832 293 771 or info@ikon racing.com - cost is £139.00 + £2.50 carriage !!! but you really need to try one on, it probably wont be as comfy as an Arai but it is £350 cheaper than Arais cheapest SA2005 lid - I'll be trying one soon).

I have a V2 pro, good helmet, the strap is fine, the visor is good, i got a black and a clear, the tinted is a bit to dark for me, comfort is good, price is good, service is good. you need to measure you head with a tape measure/peice of string etc before phoning and just look on demontweeks or alike for your size, your welcome to try mine on if your anywhere near 60cm in sweed length :)

  2. The kuro or Ebisu black 350z stripped didnt go on the track, that was mine, I was tempted but having watched some of the driving in the morning sessions by some other people i decided against it, especially having just changed the hoses the day before and still testing it... in saying that the driving i watched in the afternoon looked fine so probably just a few idiots in the morning,

It will be tracked soon tho :)

Ian glad you enjoyed the session m8, the car looks good on track

Rob, thanks for organising the event, having asked if you needed a hand setting the stand up and you saying you thought everything should be fine it was ammusing watching 4 blokes try and get one flag up :p, also i brought some speed detailer from megs so i can stop borrowing yours everytime i end up parked near you

  3. last year some of the scooby boys were jacking their cars up and cleaning each individual wheel and the under side of the car before the show started, i plan to bring a chair this year so i can watch :D

just fitted the samco hose kit, replaced spark plugs, and removed the aircon radiator/pulley/compressor/pipework, wasnt the best day to do that but as i dont have anything else in the car why not :scare:

ill be on track assuming the car hasnt leaked any fluid over night...

  4. Buy a new steering wheel with a removable boss. Click the steering wheel off, jobs a good un.

thats what i do, at least when i remember to remove the steering wheel from the car and not leave it hanging from the rear view mirror,

Ebized: i have done that a couple of times, you look even more stupid when you just expect it to be there, turn the engine over and grab thin air...

  5. i might be able to point you in the right direction for the fabrication gary, ive gone sort of in the same direction of you, roll cage going in end of this or next month and seat shall be changed at the same time, as soon as i know ill pm u.

  6. I have a japspeed Y pipe with the scorpion which is worth remembering, well pointed out Dcash5, i went purely for the noise not the asthetics but i would agree with the way it looks, the K1 looks evil, the scorpion if kept clean looks quite smart as it has a chrome back box type finish.

can be a pain to fit the scorpion as i found out as well, just need to take your time over it and ideally a ramp :) or like me a friend/mechanic with some spare time and a desire to be paid in beer that i seem to accrue from parties and never drink...

  7. I went from the K1 to the scorpion as the K1 fails trackside DB meters, from personal experience, if it wasnt for that i would have kept the k1 as it has a lovely sound.

Having got the scorpion although quieter than the K1 it does still sing when you open it up, i have no sound deadening though so maybe worth waiting for another opinion...

Again i would suggest talking to CS about options.

  8. i must admit i wasnt that impressed with the falkens in the wet, thought they were excellent when up to temp in the dry tho,

i have some dunlops on atm and was far more impressed with them in the wet, tho no where near as much grip as the falkens on the dry on track :)

  9. hello, can someone either tell me where im supposed to be tomorrow morning or pm me the username password for the wales document... been too busy to see that the forum required username password for the files! :)

    sorry!! :D
