engine mounts
exhaust knocking
droplinks knackered or dry
track rod ends
worn suspension bushes
thanks! 3 of the 5 they've already mentioned to me as suspects, but obviously we don't know for sure without replacing them, so as mentioned he's starting with the cheapest one first. Here's hoping it doesn't get too expensive!!

I've read through the American forums and sent links on all I could find to my local garage, who had the 54 plate 40k miles in all of yesterday trying to track down this noise that's just started - basically a thump or rattle, even on straight road, but not constant.
had four new tyres recently and the front brake pads replaced.
They cannot find any worn parts but he thinks it's the suspension on the way out and wants to start replacing cheapest parts first, starting with the drop links.
Just thought I'd post and see if there was any advice

If I understand you correctly then the fact that my Zed is five years old takes precedence over the fact that it has reached 36k? But on that basis I don't need a P3? That still confuses me - surely I need a P3 as it has never had one and has now reached the requisite conditions. But it must be right.
-
That was me raised a smile!
(Oh and we only use the Tesco car park to go to Waitrose, natch...)
-
That makes no sense at all - why would they have told me at 36k that I need a P1 when the manual says P3? And charged over £400 including plugs?
-
+VAT?
Sounds about normal, seem to remember something about this company (cant remember if good or bad )
Ask them how much if you provide your own oil, plugs etc (Service kits available from Envy and Opie)
Also, seem to remember the P3 being a rip off...You only need P2..
Your not that far from Cambridge (2 hours is nothing in a Zed!!) and I would recommend going to Marshalls in Cambridge as they will look after you and your car!
I was expecting a P3 but they've said it needs a P1 owing to its age

£401.19 for the service and the plugs, but I didn't mention the cruise control 'issue'. I assume it's a fixed price, anyone comment on how it compares? In the meantime am checking with my local non-Nissan garage.
-
Thank you, will see what they say
-
They have still to call me back with a quote - can you let me know what I should be asking for, and the Opie price? (Sorry to be such a n00b)
-
consult your owners manual, has all the recommendations for intervals listed
personally, I would not bother
not bother with what, the plugs?
-
So I'd need to buy those plugs from Opie and then take them to a private dealer for servicing? Be a bit worried since I'm having a slight problem with cruise control so wanted to take it to Nissan. Antelope is simply local, no idea if any good.
-
Antelope Nissan of Banbury tell me that even though I am due a P3/36k service, they say because the car is 5 years old that regardless of what the log book says it needs a P1 and 'Platinum plugs'.
Is this true?

I've got Falkens but - I dunno, it was really weird. I mean to lose it that badly at that speed. I checked my tyre pressures this morning and they are fine.

Aye, just off to the phone to our local garage who will look it over on Saturday, booked a tracking and asked them to clean all the grass off the undercarriage

Had my Zed 18 months and always been amazed at it's stability, in general been careful in rain or snow, last night on what I thought were drying roads left a roundabout I've done a thousand times before at about 50 found myself going properly sideways, corrected it but only enough to plough straight up a kerb and onto a grass verge. Amazingly other than half a field stuck to the underside and alignment of the steering wheel (possibly my imgination) it seems to be OK.
Dunno what it was - some standing water or just being tired - but seems like a very lucky escape.
Take it easy all!
-
Nice one, thanks. Got a couple of months to go yet but will be sure to get in touch.

Am in Daventry which is in Northamptonshire, there are Nissan dealers in Banbury and Warwick / Leamington but not sure they are the best places to go.
Basically would rather take it to someone who services these all the time and knows what they are doing, even if it means a wee drive.
Any suggestions welcome.

Great day with some beautiful Zeds (the yellow one and the white convertibles being ) but next year I'm taking a face mask - must have inhaled a pound of rubber watching the drifiting, can barely breathe today!

I'm in Northants. Thanks for the tips, think I'll check out everyone's machines at JTS and see what I like
-
The black one?
Looks to me like a Nismo V2 front bumper, Nismo sides, chargespeed rear bumper and a Nismo v2 spoiler.
Yep, its a guy called Jon's car. Nice car....
Shame the tyre guys couldnt get the right tyres on the 350z on Saturday... They had a front on the rear and visa versa... didnt notice till they came into the pits though... handling was all over the place and good work to the drivers for keeping it on the track!
well I was cheering them on
The Playststion car was awesome too
Thanks for the bodykit info, who can supply and fit that fit me and what am I looking at plus metallic paint?
-
so what is the bodykit on that 350 above? Would be tempted to get mine like that
-
Great pix - well jealous of your GTR. Are you going to JTS?
