I took this off my zed as where I live is just surrounded by speed bumps and was sick of keep catching it as my cars so low, the bottom side is quite heavily scratched but there's no damage to the structure or any break in the welds, was sorry to take it of as it definitely helps with the ridigity of the car.
What Summit Racing say .....
SUMMIT reinforce equipments improve chassis rigidity and reduce the flex. By using
a monocogue aluminium triple tube shaft and forged parts. Which are not only lightweight but are also exceptionally strong. SUMMIT more upgrades the chassis performance and there by improves handling.
This strut brace is 50% stronger than other type of brace because the SUMMIT Brace is not hollow, it has 3 to 4 layers of tubing inside the brace.
£75 but would rather someone collect just due to the size of it

So can a zed run at those levels from near new for the life of the car or are they a fair amount higher when new then slowly decrease so getting close to those PSI levels isn't good for the engine, does anyone know? (If that makes sense)
-
Yeah and said everything looked ok, seems to be more the HR engines with those issues, was reading back over a few threads and seems quite a few are saying the 15/20 Psi mark is ok,
One guy said Nissan say above 14 PSI is ok but I'm not sure how you relate that to be a issue, if it could run at 15 and be fine for years that's fine but if it gradually gets lower its not looking good (again)

Well guys finally got my zed back from the garage and all seems well, as my oil pressure gauge hasn't been working for a long while now and I haven't been using the car much I can't remember what it should read, bought a new gauge from Ewen which now works but the pressure seems a little low! Unless this is normal??
From cold start up it fires up to 90PSI then when warm drops to around 15/20PSI as in the picture below, is this normal or should it be reading a higher PSI when the engine is up to temperature?

Maybe this was the reason my engine went but it was a DE engine, has there been any reported DE failures here or across the pond?

Jesus will be even worse, what GTR have you gone for? Love one in a few years
-
I'm on it! Still having flashbacks from when you last took me out in the 370z
-
I will buy off you at some point
-
Well done, James! Time to change the clutch also while it's all open or is it fine for now?
I swapped the clutch and flywheel about 20k ago and gearbox was reconditioned around 15k so hoping its all good now!

Think you may be right there guys, one of the mechanics said something about oil being in areas it shouldn't be can't remember what he said now I'll check tomorrow....
Suppose it would be a good idea to swap these gaskets out on the new engine I get then too.

Found a engine near by only thing is that it's now out the car. Lad who's selling says he's upgrading to HR engine to turbo it and that the DE engine that's coming out is fine. Is around same age/miles as mine, seemed a genuine guy on the phone a lot more genuine than some of the breakers you speak to

Hate to say it mate, but you don't lose that much oil without knowing about it - especially with your low mileage. Sounds to me like the service lad has dropped a clanger..
No offence intended to the Op but if shire350Z hasn't checked his oil level in 10 months (800 miles odd) then he's only himself to blame and not the guy who serviced the car.
Missed this part out sorry, I checked the oil the day before I took the car out and if anything it was slighly high that's the other bizarre thing another reason why i can't get my head around it!

Cheers Dave,
I know what your saying Chris but it was ten months ago the service so to start insinuating that he's done that really wouldn't be the right thing to do especially when they've helped me out so much in the past, just got to forget how it happened and go for the new engine to make sure .....
-
Well as I said I'm no mechanic Adrian but it's a local trusted garage who are family friends and the crank I would get away with grinding down that's not to bad two new con rods and oversized bearings and think he said pistons and top end would need either checking or rebuilding not 100% now. Heads mush with what's going on with work ATM to.
The more concerning thing is where the oil went as there was hardly any in but no signs of loosing any and burning it. The lad who serviced it (there again I know him well and has always works on my zed) said it was correct when serviced around 10months ago and 800 miles so really is a mystery.
So without getting into a rebuild of not knowing exaltly what it will cost and the 'oil mystery'
Decided on another engine, had prices from £1200 to £2700 ideally I would like to hear one start up that's still in a zed so I can check oil pressure and listen to it etc, If any traders have engines and realistic prices then be good to hear from them.
Had a few firms contact me as I put a request on 1st class spares but weirdly the place that seems to have most of them is Birmingham and there 'reconditioned' which think id rather stay away from and stick to a engine that has been running fine.....
-
Gutted, engines terminal by the sounds of it unless I spend some serious £££
-
As I just dropped it on them and there really busy there hoping to have it out by the end of the week, listening to it he's hoping that grinding the crankshaft and larger bearings may be enough but just guessing until the engines out.
Parts I will definitely need are .....
Sump Gasket
Oil pump
Front crank oil seal
Rear crank oil seal
Then the sealant Nissan supply for the sump etc
-
Jesus, how much!
Let's hope it can be repaired 'if possible'
-
Long time no see stranger!
Sorry to hear this
Let me know what the garage says and PM me with a list of parts required to get this beauty back on the road soon!
Shows how long iv been gone, didn't even know you were a trader Adrian. Not sure if the parts can 'repaired' or wether it has to be all new bloody hope not!
-
Possibly so dan, no sign of it going and oil was all good before I left!
My engine knowledge is is pretty poor so got to see what the garage has to say.....
