  1. Quite well, we have agreed that she can have some extra coin towards a mortgage if I can have 300 quid a month for a car, I managed to get my insurance down to around £700 fully comp with some online search tools and hope to get it down even further by ringing folk up and tailoring the policy. Women and spreadsheets, the miracles of modern life
  2. I'd just live in a nice car meself but these women, need all these luxuries and stuff tsk tsk
  3. Cheers, think i'll test drive all the variants to get a feel for what I'm willing to compromise upon. My girlfiend has delusions about us buying a new house now (I get a new car, she gets a new house) so that's starting to eat away at my budget
  4. I REALLY like the new one but I don't know whether it's worth 10K in the first year of ownership, although that could be because OF the new one coming out that residuals have dropped sharply. Maybe I should be looking around for a ex demo car...
  5. Cheers, probably going to be doing some number crunching over the next few days then i'll be either on the search for a good second hand example or pushing the boat out for a new one, I generally keep a car for around 3 years, and judging by the market depreciation can be quite heavy (UK GT Spec car on 06 plate for 20K on autotrader). What are your experiences of depreciation on these? Is the market deflated by the massive amount of JDM motors available on the cheap?
  6. ... that a 350z will be parked outside my house in the very near future I had a back to back test drive of a 2007 S2000 and a new 350Z GT at the weekend and although it was a very difficult decision, I'm going to go with the Z. Had a manic test drive round the back roads of the Aire Valley, road's I know very well and loved every minute of it, the car was a metallic grey 2007 model with the full GT Pack and Sat Nav with Charcoal leather. In a perfect world this is the car i'll be going with potentially with the orange and black leather/mesh seats if they look okay in the flesh. If the numbers don't add up i'll be looking to get one a year or so old but in the same colours. If I do end up with an older variant, can someone point me in the direction of a thread that details mods to the engine to refine the power band like the 2007 engine, this was the deciding factor for me that so much of the power is available right down at the bottom of the rev range, so much so that for one overtaking manoeuvre I never changed down from 4th, just booted it Anyway, looking forward to becoming an active member of the community
  7. Sod the car, what does she look like? She's rather tasty actually, but my other half wouldn't really like me fraternising with tasty women in flash cars
  8. That's cool, there's a cage fighting place in Bradford I've been meaning to go to the only thing I lack is ground fighting and grappling skills which is what cage fighting tends to boil down. I only really do it for fitness, I like all adrenaline fuelled sports and there's nothing better than martial arts to condition your body for other sports like Snowboarding and Racing.
  9. Neither, I'm a freestyle martial artist with a somewhat techy day job to pay for tyres and other motoring consumables like gearboxes which don't seem to last very long with me, hope the Z has strong transmission. it'll need it
  10. Firstly, thanks all for the greets. The drop top is something I've never done and I've lusted after an S2000 for years, thing is I found out a couple of weeks back that Zeds were in my price range too so that's rocked the boat a LOT!!! I can't make any meets for the next coupla weeks but I'll keep an eye on the meets section to see what's happening, might go along to that Japanese night that happens over in the North West looks good and I can get a feel for the whole thing. Think I'd stand out turning up in an Alfa?
  11. I haven't, I've pitted it up against an S2000 in Forza Motorsport 2 on the 360 though and the Z proved to be much quicker... unsure if that's a viable test I've come here first as I wouldn't want to buy the car and find there is no community around it. Test drives are the next step...
  12. Hi all, Just joined to see what your community is like, for me community is a big part of the owning experience of any car and you guys are up against the S2000 fraternity as its between that and a 350z to replace my Alfa 147. They seem a good bunch (a lot better than the TT lot at any rate) so you have a high benchmark to beat Anyway, love everything I've read about the car and in my search for a good all rounder RWD car with 2 seats and good track day credentials the 350z is creeping to the top of my list. I'll be hanging around over the next few weeks and if anybody knows of any meets in the Yorkshire area please let me know. What got me thinking of the 350z is one that is driven by an asian lass parks at the shops over the road from where I work in Huddersfield. It's Black with Gold BBS style split rims and an aftermarket adjustable rear wing, if she's a member on here I wouldn't mind a closer look at her car, it looks awesome. Cheers Sean
