  1. Well on the UK manuals you can set number of revs at which a red light will begin to flash below the rev counter telling you to change gear - I guess so you can still concentrate on the road and see it flashing in your peripheral vision. No great hardship without it I guess!
  2. Obviously irrelevant well using the fully automatic gearbox, but is there a shift up indicator light when in tiptronic mode? Doesn't look like it from what I can see on photos...
  3. Thanks that's useful to see, and also good to see that Bonsai haven't put any of their prices up in 18 months. Which of those costs includes the shipping - is it to ITS MARITIME UK along with the duty and VAT?
  4. Cheers! Though I think it gets mixed reactions, and I haven't even seen the colour in the flesh yet! I'll put some proper pics up once the long wait is over!
  5. Again that's what I thought, but I figured it was only buyers in the UK that rebadged them once they had imported them. This is the one I'm importing - it's an 07 and looks pretty standard in every respect so I was just a bit surprised if they had gone to the trouble of changing the badge and not much else.
  6. That's the point - they're not all Fairlady - some cars in Japan are actually badged 350Z and so wondered whether it was a recent thing...
  7. Just wondering, is there actually a reason why some JDMs are FairladyZ and why some are 350Z? Are the newer ones 350s?
  8. Well that makes me feel better, and I should just stop worrying I think. Max agreed bid was £18,600 but having been stung by the change in exchange rate that will be over £19k now. Yen price was 2,995,000 and at the slightly worse rate of 217 to the pound so still a bit concerned that the total is going to be a fair bit above the agreed maximum, but I'll trust Bonsai for now. Cheers dude, I'll get some pics up when she arrives p.s. that equivalent UK car for which the link didn't work was £29,850.
  9. Roadster ver-T, June 2007 (new model), 3000 miles, Grade 5, Night blue, white / grey leather (can't remember the official name), 18" standard wheels , tiptronic. Similar to this: http://www.nissanusedcars.co.uk/control ... tID=531019 To an importing expert such as yourself (), what price do you think is reasonable, both in terms of the total cost to import it and then how much it might be worth once it's in the UK?
  10. That's exactly the way it's supposed to work with Bonsai but for some reason my own calculations are coming out higher and I'm waiting for their response as to why. I'm just hoping I've got something wrong, and if I haven't I'm not really sure where I stand as the price won't be quite as good as it was. I actually did get stung by that as well. The exchange rate dropped sharply overnight between me checking it and making the transfer, and as a result I've just got to accept the additional £600 for nothing. Shame - the yen was around the 250 mark in July! I really hope this doesn't turn into a horror story.
  11. Thanks JDM, I'll lower my expectations in that case! Have you found their prices to be accurate or have they mysteriously crept up? I have done all my sums and it looks like the final on the road price is about £2k higher than my bid price and I'm still waiting for them to comment on it. Am I right in thinking that import duty is calculated as 10% of the purchase price PLUS shipping, and then VAT is 17.5% of the purchase price, shipping and the import duty? If so then I'm going to be paying a lot more than planned...
  12. I'm in the process of importing with Bonsaicars at the moment having won an auction. It's all still at the early stages and the car is still in Japan but I've made the main chunk of the payment. This is a pretty useful guide which outlines the costs: http://www.epoi.com/faq.html Add on to that the Bonsaicars fee of £695 + VAT and that's pretty much everything covered. Wise folk on here may be able to give you much better advise though!
  13. Well at least it's still in the teens but you're right about the warranty. The internet can be a dangerous place after much wine! Must learn to control my clicking.
  14. Even though that's a 2007 car on Autotrader it looks like it's an 06 model judging by the bonnet?
  15. I'm just in the process of buying a JDM zed through a Bonsaicars auction at the moment and would quite like to put my mind at rest about how much I'm paying! What sort of price does everyone think this is worth on the UK market as a JDM car? Roadster Version T June 2007 3000 miles Grade 5 Night blue White / grey leather (can't remember the official name) 18" standard wheels It's still in Japan at the moment so won't be with me for another couple of months but I'm quite happy with my UK coupe until then! :-) Alex
  16. Hi all, Has anyone got their mirrors to fold / unfold automatically with the ignition? I imagine for someone familiar with the wiring circuits it's probably quite simple. Thanks! Alex
  17. Actually it seems to depend on whether it's a Nissan Approved car, and if it is you get at least 12 months for free. I guess mine isn't, and now it's been taken off the website I can't check.
  18. Hmmm, Wolverhampton. Maybe they're pulling a fast one! Price seems good though - November 2003, 35K, full GT pack plus satnav and 350Z mats, FNSH. Was on their website at £16995 and when I got there was on the forecourt at £18495 and claimed the internet price was wrong, but they still gave it to me at the lower price. Obviously you can't tell without seeing the car, but does that sound like a reasonable price?
  19. Thanks all - sound advice and much appreciated. No doubt will have more questions after I pick her up tomorrow!
  20. Hi all, First post - great forum! I'm picking up a 3 and a half year old 350Z GT on Friday from a Nissan dealer and trying to decide whether to go for the extended warranty, and if so how long for. It's got 35K on it and was serviced at 34K. 3 owners from new. Costs I've been given are £399 for 12 months or £699 for 24, including the highest level of RAC cover. Might well drive the beast to Italy soon so European cover would be good, which the Nissan warranty includes. What's everyone's thoughts? Thanks all! Alex
