Brilliant.

Are the pads the same for Brembo and non-Brembo cars? I can't see alternatives listed anywhere!
No they're different
-
Have to agree with you on the Vantage. Superb looking and sounding car, but build quality and reliability is miles away from Porsche.

Just been reading through this post and thought I'd check out the Cayman compared to the 370z.
They do seem to be better built, better drivers car etc but for the same spec as the Nissan you're getting on for £50k! The base models are about £33k and don't include much apart from electric windows, air con and stuff that's standard on most family cars.
So £15-£20k more than the 370z. Surely they're not even comparable?hb
New 370Z vs used Cayman S and they are totally comparable.
Obviously if you have to buy new then they are not on the same page.
Although if I had £30k to spare I think I'd save a little bit more and go Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Compare that, if you will, to either car.
Speak to Zedrush about Astons and you may change your opinion

I used Mintex M1144 in mine and found the feedback and cold performance from them great for a reasonably inexpensive pad. See my F/S post for a nearly new set of rears I'm selling

all the talk of the cayman i had to go and have a browse,
i absolutely love the exterior, stunning cars, far nicer than the standard boxster or 911 i think the cayman is more sleek.
but the one thing i'm struggling with is the interior of them. from the pictures they just seem very clinical. and i'm just not feeling it. may be need to go and have a look at one.
the 370 is becoming a more and more viable option
Just go and sit in one They are a bit clinical in a typical Germanic sort of way, but the quality is superb. Check out things like the way the cup holders are dampened ( if you can find where they're hidden) and soild clump when you close the door. And thats before you drive it and feel the rifle-bolt gearchange and incredible steering feedback.

There's no way of avoiding an extra owner/keeper going onto the V5, but since it will show up with the former keeper as having the same name as you, any future buyer should appreciate the situation once explained.

Jack, Jack handle, Wheel brace and locking wheel nut remover.
-
The 296 bhp engine was upgraded with different pistons, cams and I think cylinder heads as well.
-
If you make it clear in the ad that test drives will only be permitted with proof of fully comp insurance, you shouldn't have any problems. That will elimate the test pilots and anyone that is a geniune buyer will arrange the necessary cover.
-
The Cayman is lovely handling car but just a little common and to me is a poor man's 911 (I think I'll run for cover now!).... just joking
Generally only perceived that way by those who buy for the badge and not the superior chassis dynamics of the Cayman
+1 - Get the turbo conversion for the Cayman and its waaaay better than a 911
Or the Autofarm 911 engine conversion.

Mintex competition pads Done less than 1K miles. £35 including delivery to UK mainland
-
I would think you'd have a real job selling it as well
-
The ad states they are real carbon so they must be - the quality is likely to be questionable though at that price imo.
-
Yes but they're standard fitment which is exactly the point I'm making. 19's do look better but on cars as track focussed as the GT3 RS and FXX, they are obviously seen as an advantage.
-
Yes please
-
Porsche offer 19s because they've got them on the shelf and can make a tidy profit off them But a base Cayman is still on 17s and Cayman S only 18s. The Mclaren F1 does pretty well on 18s as well!
GT3 and GT3 RS, Ferrari FXX all on 19's

But the marketing department came along and said we need 19" wheels because it will "look good in the brochure". Kudos to Subaru and Mitsubishi for sticking to lightweight 18s... 19s are not even optional
I don't think the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, etc offer 19's just to look good. Mitsubishi and Subaru keep to 18's so as to have them homologated for rallying because the choice of competition tyres is greater.

I still havn't seen one on the road and am still wailting for my test drive that I booked last June Perhaps I should pull up on their forecourt in my Cayman S and tell them how I was given a 2 hour test drive in both a Cayman S and a Carrera 2S so as to assist in making my decison and that this was all arranged within a couple of days.

And that Renault's signage is very prominent

The 350 is more of a GT whereas the Cayman is pure sports car. By that I'm referring to the fact that the 350 is a better overall ride and would probably be a nicer car for long journeys. It's also quieter inside.
My Boxster has 19" and PASM and it has a considerably better ride than my 350Z - softer too than the 350 but taught when you want it to be. Sublime handling and quiet inside even at high speed.
Interesting. My Cayman also has 19's and PASM but without doubt makes more road noise than my 350 did. Mind you if your 350 has Bridgestones fitted then that will go some way to explailning why.

Which ever pads you decide to fit, make sure you also fit ant squeal shims as the Brembos are particularly prone to squealing without them.
