  1. the orange peel and the pin pricks would drive me mad.....

I would want it to done again and done perfectly....although depending on the amount on the original price I may cut the trader some slack...

If it was a really cheap job, then it's a bit tough really. Whilst I don't condone a badly done job just because it was really cheap, I would like the use the example of the tv programme Cowboy builders. Many times the people get ripped off as they've opted for a cheap as chips builder and thought they would get the most amazing extension for a pittance and as a result. They often get one half built...

  2. guess some people are too proud to be seen in lidl/aldi etc etc

I've got to be honest Carla talked me into going to Aldi the other day 'its really good, basically it'll cut the food bill in half and its all just as good'.........fair enough lets give it a crack.

3 minutes I lasted before I could actually feel the life being sucked out of me - that store is like a giant Dementor!

The people in there looked like they were either dead, dying or wanted to die.

Nothing to do with being proud - if I had no money I'd shop there but jesus! Picking through rebranded food that I just don't get! If you don't mind 'own brand' foods then just go to a normal supermarket and buy 'own brand'..........then you don't have to deal with human detritus dragging their weary carcasses around Aldi!

The best way I can associate the experience is with is going to a 'shopping centre' or a 'precinct' in one of those little towns that was economically and socially left behind in the 1980s - Runcorn, Widnes, Ellesmere Port all spring instantly to mind from my area........filled with weary souls sporting alcoholic odors, behemothic teenage mums sporting fluorescent tracksuits and Elizabeth Duke Jewelery (2 carat gold 'mum' matching necklace and ring set), the 'roid engraged musclebound 'otherhalf' who insists on wearing a vest even though its January (usually sporting the names of his various progeny tattoo'd on his neck), old women with whispy beards and a cat in their handbag....... and finally lest we forget the WW2 veteran painfully shuffling along with an armful of Aldi bags because his state pittance won't stretch to a weeks shopping from Tesco.

...........what were were talking about again? Oh yeah!...........keep the car if you can stay out of Aldi mate

Top notch writing mate....conjured up the imagery perfectly....

I have to say though, I've shopped at Lidl and Aldi, and there are a couple of items there that I enjoy much more over the Sainsburys stuff. Example is this cheery cocnut tart that I could only ever find in Aldi, and I think Lidl does this awesome Orange stuffing Pork Roast, it's the nicest pork roast I've ever had, couldn't believe it when my Mother in Law told me she bought it from Lidl, this was two Xmas's ago.

  3. yeah it was for sale last couple of months on autotrader etc I think. I would have thought about it for 6500 ish but I would rather spend the extra and go for a uk car

£6500 for a HR engine car? The equivalent UK motor would be about 12k easy...that's 5.5k difference.....

Do people really think there is a circa 5k difference between an import and an UK spec?

Think I would like to buy cheap and sell cheap for the same motor...

  4. So call me stupid but I've always wondered why is there a Chinese New Year but not, say, a Japanese New Year?

I could understand if it was maybe the Buddhist New Year or some kind of religious annual event but why would one country do this and another would not?

What do they do in Beijing on Dec 31st, just stay at home?!

I probably should understand it better after my years training in martial arts but no-ones ever mentioned it!

Oh and I can swear quite colourfully/badly in Mandarin thanks to Firefly

(Best show ever and my Avatar)

It's to do with the way the Chinese calculates the annual calender, they call it the moon calender, so because they adhere to a different format of dates, hence it's new years like two days ago.....

Japanese don't use this method....so no Japanese new year....

I think the mexicans may have also a different way of calculating days...the old aztecs....

  5. Hello All,

I've been trying to buy a 350z for ages....and through the spotted on ebay, I found a bargain....well I think it is anyway..

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-Nissan-350Z- ... 240%3A1318

I haggled them down to 11.5k! And when I said no to that, he implied he could go lower.

That's the ebay link. I was going to chop my civic type r in, until they would only give me 5k for it....

It needs two tyres, but they said they would put new ones on. It needs a P1 service at 27000 mile mark, but they said they would do that also. Or better still haggle some more money off and get Nissan to do it (keep the book stamped up) It's had two owners, the last owner had it for a year.

It's had a P1 and a P2 service. They will MOT and tax it for 6 months.

I just feel that I can't go and buy the motor and then try and sell my civic...

The car is in Wales, and if it's a bit far, GIXXERUK off this forum is even willing to check it out for you! I think, if you ask him nicely..! ;)

The guy selling is a chap by the name of Ian Evans sounds pretty desperate. I reckon if someone walked in with cash, he'll let it go for 11k..

Mods, this isn't a advertising post, I just feel that if someone is thinking of getting a yellow GT4, they could potentially pick this one up on the cheap!

  6. Update!!

After getting married this year. I decided as an additional measure of security for my wife. I would purchase life and health insurance.

After reading through this forum and contacting Sarnie. I would like to say the service has been excellent.

I am quite fussy and must have changed my criteria and my mind about 5-6 times.. and sarnie was able to keep on adjusting to my demands....

He also gave me some good advice as well. Which after checking and reviewing on the internet was indeed good advice... :teeth:

If anyone is looking to buy life/health insurance, I have no problems recommending him!! :yahoo:

    Cheers!

Only 5-6 times??? Are you sure???:lol:

Cheers though Jim, when you need that mortgage or any figures just drop me a line

  8. I would always buy private overdealer anyday!

I got a 2004 GT with 12,000 miles £4000 cheaper than a dealer 2004 GT with 40,00 miles on the clock. Now obviously there is warranty but you can even buy this now...... so I just weight up risks and bonus vs other outgoing costs and make a decision, but always end up buying private or even auction.
