  1. Firstly, apologies if this has been discussed in detail elsewhere - I have searched the forum and read up as much as I can, however I'm still a noob on this topic I have an 05 zed and have just this week had work done on the gearbox to try to resolve crunching 1st to 2nd shifting. I believe they replaced the 2nd and 3rd synchro rings and hub (am dropping back into the dealers tomorrow to get a complete list of work done and parts replaced). After driving in the replaced transmission (the drive home was aweful - notchie in all gears and could only get into reverse with considerable effort ), things seem to have settled down. However I still appear to experience crunching between 1st and 2nd (more frequent when I've just started up the car) I can get around this by taking my time changing gear which was advice from the engineer, but I'm not convinced everything is ok. I'd welcome anyone's thoughts on whether it's just my driving style or whether I should take back to the dealer to fix (thankfully it's under extended warranty )
  2. Just a quick tip - you can only claim 40p / mile for the first 10k business miles in a year - thereafter it's 25p / mile. So you're talking about £6500 mileage refund each year for 20k miles. Yes, I am a sad accountant But it pays for my beautiful Zed
  3. Bit late with the reply, but no typo - £1200+VAT for new part
  4. I just had the same problem with my 05 plate. They tried cleaning the throttle and sensor but that didn't solve the problem Brand new part for £1200+VAT ...... all at Nissan warranty's expense thankfully Been ok for 2 weeks since the work was done.
  5. Thanks for both of you putting my mind to rest. Now gimme some more juice
  6. 7 months into ownership and my first problem with the Z (well that's if you don't count the damn clicky axles on the 1st day ) Pulling away from a junction last night, seemed to stutter forward as if I'd let the clutch out too quickly. Then noticed immediate power loss with the engine and ESP / traction control warning lights both on Pulled over and turned off the engine for a few minutes. When I restarted, only the engine warning light was on but full power seemed to be restored I've had it in the stealers today and they've said it due to low power in the battery which has sent the ECU round the bend (apparently they had alot of error codes which I'm going to get hold of tomorrow). Said that the battery needs to be replaced Anyone heard of this before or are they trying to pull the wool over my eyes? Grateful for anyone who in wiser than me
  7. Thanks for the feedback and the welcome guys. Think I may give this one a miss and wait some more I've waited nearly a year and half, I can wait some more Realistically, what do you reckon I can get for around £20 - £22k? I'd ideally like under 20k mileage but there seems to be such a wide range on the market it's hard to tell what is good value for money.
  8. Long time reader, first time poster, so thought it was about time I made the effort to introduce myself. I've picked up loads of tips and knowledge here, so wanted to thank all of you I've been looking at buying a Z for over a year now and think I'm about ready to take the plunge I've seen a chilli red, GT, 05 plate with 29k on the clock at the local stealer for £20k. Took it out for a spin this afternoon and still can't wipe the grin off my face An absolutely awesome car to drive, can't believe I haven't done anything about it sooner! I'd appreciate any thoughts you guys have. Is £20k for an 05 plate, GT pack with 29k on the clock a good deal? I thought it would be priced about £1-2k higher than that so was wondering if there's something they're not telling me? Looked out for all the usuals (real tyres / suspension etc.) but have to admit I'm a bit of a noob so I could have missed something. Thanks for any tips you guys can give me
