With regards to Ekonas comments I agree that a mock-up machined version may be awkward and difficult to change quickly & smoothly. I'll look into what difference the shift times make, what makes me think that it can't be too bad is, if the metal gates are such a slow option for changing gear, then why would Ferrari & Lamborghini use it in their supercars?!
I've been looking into having a 'genuine' Ferrari Gate surround converted to fit the Zed, they do a 'slick shift' version which is meant to speed up & smoothen the gear changes take a look its down the bottom of this page http://www.midland-ferrari.co.uk/sports ... sories.asp
I want the full kit, gate, gear stick & knob - I estimate that completed I'd be looking at £250-300 for the whole kit using genuine parts.
