  1. I admire your balls mate but listen to the missus - lime green & alezan won't work. I've always found that women have a far better idea than blokes on colour matches/clashes - you only have to go out on a Saturday night to see that.

If you're dead set on the green, why not go for something else but get the mad green "flip" in it? Seen some TVR's that went from purple to this crazy green under different lights

  2. Well I've done it! - The editing that is - aint technology wunnerful!

Now to try the shoe polish.....

John, I think I remember a good while ago a thread that was talking about the plastics just being painted. I've tried a quick search but can't see anything but I'm really tight on time so can't dig further but it may be worth a trip to your local Halfrauds or paint shop to see if they've got anything.

  3. I'm slightly confused about mine. Mine sounds a bit more thudy thank clicky and it really sounds like its coming from the boot.

I drove around with the window open and when it did happen it was no louder, in fact it was harder to hear due to the road noise which makes me suspect its not the clicking axle. Is it always louder with the window down if its the axle?

Note mine also happens when i am slowing down of the second I hit a speed bump.

That said I have taken out virtually all of the boot and tailgate trim and my stereo install so there is virtually nothing in the back that could make any noise.

Think I will have to pop up the dealer with it before my warranty expires at the end of the month as I have no idea what is causing it.

Rob, theres nothing in your box behind the passenger seat is there? Also there is a false floor in there with almost like a coin tray under it - just make sure theres nothing there or under that tray either (lifts up very easily by putting a key or small screwdriver under it). This is where the main control unit for the bluetooth hides - there may be something kicking about in there.

Keep your fingers crossed, iirc, lomoto brought out a Snap On screwdriver from either there or the engine bay!!

  4. I used Amsoil at my last service, bought from a trader on here.

I found that the overall cost of supplying my own oil for the Nissan service worked out at about the same price as having their rubbish. BUT obviously you've ended up with a much better oil in your engine

  5. not a fan myself. It doesn't look as aggressive as the last M3. Like Val I much prefer the current one.

Accepted, I feel the same way. But there again I've felt that way about every other M3 too. It'll be a grower, they always are.

  6.

thanks for the advice Andy. forgive my ignorance - what is a CV joint?!! sounds pretty serious - got me worried now. only problem is, it's difficult to demonstrate to dealer as it only happens sometimes and only for the first couple of turns. the sound is more like a 'badum, badum, badum' than a clicking noise. :scare:

    Decent explanation here mate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CV_joint

also gives you a bit on the noises they're likely to make, probably worth a read to see if that sounds like your noise

  7. i've had bose replaced, boot struts replaced and new gear knob under warranty.

    re: clicking axles...

i've noticed a clicking on mine recently, but sounds like it's coming from the front axle around the wheels. and it's only noticeable when turning close to full-lock and when I first set off.

...does this sound familiar to anyone?

Cetainly does sound familiar mate (not from the Z tho) thats the first sign of CV joint wear - get her into the dealer quick sharp. It won't fix itself and ultimately will go, leaving you with no drive (and a big embarrassment outside a packed pub on a summer night if its anything like mine!!)

  8. Val - you maybe able to help. I've read some of the detailing threads but its all confusing. when i go to halfords what autoglym stuff should i be grabbing? I'm thinking of getting a meguirs clay bar and wool mit. but not sure what shampoo, polish, wax i should get? Super resin polish?

I use the Megs NXT wash & wax mate (think Val does too unless he's changed). Personnally I love the finish with this stuff and its nice & easy too

  9. My mate was working at TVR at the time when they've were developing & producing this engine. I'll never forget the day he came home and told me that they'd just managed to bolt everything together that day for the first time, they hadn't tuned it or fettled it or anything and it was already producing over 600bhp!!!
