  1. I corrected my last reply because my memory was incorrect, the 180 fix is a genuine one - what I was thinking of was a simple re-torquing of the bolts. Sorry about that, this is a bona fide solution

I'm happy for them to to try whatever they need to, just gob smacked it took them 10 days to come up with that!! And then that it takes so long to book in to fix.

Just have to polish it again...!! :D

  2. Hence the very thick layer of sarcasm on the post!

They're starting to nark me to be honest. The warranty runs until next Feb, and to be honest since it's been diagnosed now if it's not fixed by then they can replace the whole of the running gear as far as I'm concerned.

I love the car too much for it to spoil the whole experience, but it's an inconvenience.

    Extended warranty here I come!!

  3. Sorry for upsetting anyone but its just like a Boxster in so much as its nothing but a poor mans 911. Not a big fan its fair to say.

I agree to a point, like go get a Zed and save £10k. But a Ferrari F430 owner isn't a poor mans Enzo is it??

  4. Great site, that's why. Good achievement guys, especially when you consider the relatively limited numbers of Zeds on the road. Must work out as a good percentage!:thumbs::band:

although it's fair to say not all members are owners :)

but it's good stuff nonetheless, especially considering how it all came to life! :teeth:

Agree, but most are I'd guess and those that aren't either have owned or will!!

  5. Every car mag or article you pick up and they pit a Z against it, it always comes out on top.

An aunt of my gf was looking at a Cayman S, and then I turned up at their's in the Z. They couldn't believe how good it was, how nice it looked in the flesh or how much it was versus the Porsche. I reminded them they'd be even more gutted with one stuck in the rear view mirror of the Cayman too.....! ;)

  6. OK, so the new found technical wizardry that will be trialled on my car to fix the clicking rear axle is........

This is great, had to wait 10 days for them to work this out........

Take the drive shafts out, turn them through 180 degrees and put some more grease in. You don't know how relieved I am that they've finally worked it out. Best bit is they can book me in really quickly, by the end of the month I'm told.

This car is awesome and I love it to pieces, but I hate being in the hands of those that don't give the impression of caring. Will update you on the click when I know.....!

  7. Have to say that anyone out there that isn't a member here really will miss out on things like this.

Got a quote for rear brake pads from Nissan this morning (and other parts) - a tidy £114 + VAT. Having used Redstuff on previous cars I got a quote (using Brakes4u, cheers Mike! ) and have ordered these delivered next day for £51!!! Standard quality ones are even less.

Then the wierd science of pricing other parts. All + VAT

    Passenger grab handle - £35.18

    Rear bumper - £182.69

    Silver strut cover - £100.48

How is a ruler sized piece of plastic over £40 yet an entire bumper under £215?? Washer jet nozzles are into the hundreds (each!) yet front bumper is about £150.

Guess this is where Holdcroft comes into it's own.....

Thumbs up to those who have arranged the discounts though, top job.

  8. For UK cars, year and model pre 06 doesn't matter, only main difference being GT pack or not (leather, electric seats, BOSE sound system, cruise control).

As for your other cars, I agree with Sarnie. The Mini Cooper S Works and Golf GTi on the A404 on the way home will testify that........ :teeth:

The 06 model has same power as current Boxster and Cayman S from Porsche, is MUCH better looking than ANY BMW and they're not a common sight. Do it, what more could you want?!

    :welcome: BTW

  9. If it's all on auto then it's probably the climate control just working away. And it turning off to bring the temperature back up when it's gone too far. In this heat recently it might be getting to 18 and cutting off and it warming up pretty quick again.

I don't really understand why people with the auto option don't just set the temperature and everything to auto and let the car do the work???

because it's not the best of systems

You think? I've had no problems with mine, and with a Volvo and Merc on the drive with climate too there's no noticeable difference.

Each to their own obviously, just if I have a lazy option that keeps me the same temperature I just use that! :D

it's not bad don't get me wrong, just some days it seems better than others

Just like my clicking rear axle, squeaky rear brakes and fuel consumption!!

  10. It should not really go from blasting cold air to off then to blasting cold air again though.

It should blast cold air, slow down gently, run at a lower speed to maintain temp and if it needs an extra boost speed up. If it can maintain but turning off and then on gently for a bit fine but to go from nothing to full blast just seems stupid

It takes much more energy to cool something down than to maintain it at a set temperature.

Would seem daft I agree, not run mine this cold on auto so can't compare. Have you tried your dealer to see if there's a fault?

I like mine blasting cold air continuously, or red hot in the winter

My favourite combo is to drive back from the dealer after they've still not fixed my clicking rear axle ( ) keep turning the temperature down but getting hotter..... Not noticing til I get home the heated seat was on........

  14. Also depends if others drive the car and if electric adjustment helps it, I personally preferred the leather option. As for holding you, I've never had any problems with my leather not supporting me. IMO the seats in this car are top notch as a balance for comfort and support.

As for the BOSE, I'm by no means a fan having competed at Ultra level for a while and know what a good car can sound like, but it's not bad for most listener's ears. If you set it up sensibly it'll sound OK. If you're going to change the standard set-up then it would be a waste of cash.

  15. Depends on the type of client really doesn't it!! ;):p

They're awesome cars for sheer drivability, nothing gets you closer to feeling what's actually happening, and with the roof off they're fine to get in and out.

But the exhaust doesn't polish up as good as my Zed.....! B)

  16. Bring both.... there would not be a limit on the number of cars...you would only pay once.

does not mean a mate can drive one and you the other and only one pay, but there would not be a problem with you having 2 cars.

I always do as I tow the 7.

    steve

Cheers Steve, will seriously think about it.

As for a mate driving one, do you really have any you could trust?! :scare:

  17. Indeed, Sarnie, you are correct.

Need to get them both out for a proper test at some point....... :D

    :yahoo:

To be fair the give away was how low the wing mirror was really. The zed is pretty low but that is limbo dancing low :scare:

Try getting into the thing with the roof on when 6'+, it's a delightful experience!!
