  1. Don't think you have to pay VAT or duty on secondhand stuff. Make sure they are dirty before they are shipped.

Im gonna contact Customs and Exicse for a definitive answer on this one - the response won't be quick; but I'll post up if and when :)

I'm not sure so yes please. Even in the UK VAT sometimes seems to apply, e.g. cars / trucks etc.

I've just imported new wheels and tyres and they cost me $600 by air freight. It took 4 days to hit the UK. You can get cheaper though. Try UPS, I heard these are quick and not too expensive. Also try Bax Global.

Cheapest way is by sea but this can take 2-3 weeks. Expect to pay about $250.

You could try Status Auto Design in the US. They do stock some nice 350z wheels. They advertise on my350z.com under the user name status. They usuall put up a post of their stock. These are the guys I bought from. I can give you the contact details if you need them.

PS: You do know that RH are american wheels and not Racing Harts? Nice wheels mind you.

    Hope this helps

  3. Right guys, I give up on the gallery. I started loading to my gallery, then found the number of files exceed the limit, and I'd only loaded 7 pictures.

So here they are in Photbucket..

    Kev,

That didn't work as it asks for your password?

No didn't ask for any passwords. I tried to load to my gallery, (no idea how I load to meets), and it just said I reached the limit.

Anyway they are now in photobucket. So if anyone want to load them into the meet then feel free, if you know how...

Mark - Thanks again. You are now the official drive day orgainsing me thinks..

If anyone is interested, I pushed the car a bit on the way back, nearly lost it in Congleton when the back end stepped out on a roundabout in the wet. Anyway, I've now come to the conclusion my new wheels and springs now need new shocks. I've always thought they were a bit soft when pushed. Now with the new wheels the car is definately a bit more bouncy, so thinking of Tokico D spec adjustable shocks. It never ends this tuning lark.... :teeth:

  4. Nice pics - looks like a good time had by all. :)

    Kev, wheels looking schweeeet. :thumbs:B)

Thanks mate. Just got back and had to wash my wheels.... :D

What a great day. Thanks Jacko for arranging things and keeping in a group. Great roads, great weather and great people. Nice meeting you all.

Tim - Was that you behind me going home? I decided to leave just after you, so assume it was. I went back the same route. M6 was crap, spray traffic etc.

    Look forward to the next.

    Just downloading pics. B)

  5. To be honest guys, its a bit out of my way to go down to Belper to make a cross country journey to the meeting point - Id have to be setting off at 6:50 or 7 to meet you guys at 7:30 in order to get to the M56 for 9.

I reckon the best route forme is over the snake pass (A623) straight through to stockport and onto the M56.

See you at the main start line? :)

That way you dont have to wait around for me, or any of us have to start extra early just to form a mini convoy.

Sounds like a plan. What time will you be starting?

  6. Weather update,

Looks a bit crappy and rain showers over here (when we start) but looks better when we get to Wales. I've done a quick reccy of some of he places and most are dry with even a little bit of sun, so here's hoping!

At least it looks like it will get better the more into Wales we'll go.... B)

I reckon it could takes us up to 1 1/2 hours, but they saidthey would wait for us.

Where are we meeting and which was are we going. I'm in Belper BTW.

Do you want me to PM my Mobile?

Hi Kev., what route are you taking ? and we,ll meet up somewhere  I,m near Alfreton BTW

    Hi Guys,

Checked the map and it will take us 1 1/2hours at least. So what time should we go. I used to work in Northwich so know part of the route well.

From Belper and Alfreton I would recommend Ashbourne, Leek, Congleton, Holmes Chapel then Northwich. Then onto the A533 to join M56 J12.

Chris, you could either drive down to us or meet us at probably Leek. What do you reckon?

    I think it's looking like a 7:30am start..

  8. I get 26 to 27 mpg mostly. Never been much below this. Remember that even though it's a 3.5, it is modern engine, so as such is quite economical. Also doesn't have the potential for super low mpg like most turbo engines, aka Evos' and Impreza's, (I've had an Impreza and own a Cossie)... :D

  9. Buy a Crossfire, now there's a top car.. ;)

    Seriously though.

    1. Crossfire - Built on the old SLK chassis so a bit of a dinosaur. Poor build quility but cheap. Don't bother.

    2. TT - Everyone has one. Not that reqarding to drive. A bit of jewelery on wheels IMHO. Based on a S3 anyway so wht not buy one of those and have a boot and 2 extra seats and rarer. Don't bother unless you are considering the new one.

    3. 350z - Rare. Top handling. Unique. Good value. Reasonable build and fantastic engine. MPG 20 - 30. I get 27mpg mostly on the driving I do, but around town this wil drop. Servicing very reasonable. Dealer crap though but there are good ones. Some bargains can be add off private sales as the 06 model is about to hit the streets. Imports can be considered but think about, speed restrictor 112mph, etc. Although you can get the tiptronic gearbox in import.

    Hope this helps.

  10. Just organising my car for my trip to California the end of the month, and guess what you can hire from most of the major companies over there.

Choose LAX from above, (Los Angeles Airport). Yep...350z

My youngest daughter is coming with us so I've booked a Mustang Convertible.. B)

Booked it through Budget though. So cheap... B)

  11. I like it. Certainly has some of the GTR looks at the front.

I particularly like the bulging arches, (Zed like), and the fat alloys. Can't help thinking that the final version may not look so nice. Probably will have skinny alloys for one.

  12. Hi Mate,

Not heard anything specific on Kuro. The paint is as all modern cars, i.e. water based so soft. I've got paint protection film on mine, fitted from new. This means simply no stone chips. I've got Paintshield. The other system available is Armourfend.

Keep looking and don't rush. For £25k you should get a good 'em and with the 06 model shipping shortley the 05's wll start to take tumble. We've even seen a GT4 go recently for less than £25k.

    Cheers

    K
