  2. Only just caught this notification, sorry. I used Upol's Raptor product to give the arches some extra protection. I managed to get it on a deal at Halfords which was the cheapest I could find at the time. I'm by no means an expert, I did this with the help of a friend 😁 There's two options: -I think it's called Raptor XT, which is a 2 pack product where you need to mix in hardener. It's touch dry almost instantly and has good coverage. You have two application options - either use a roller or a spray gun (attached to an air compressor). I used the spray gun but if you do this you'll definitely want to cover all your paintwork. One you've mixed in the hardener you are time limited as you'd expect from that sort of product. -The second option is aerosols. I used these to spray on some areas that got mistakenly missed during the main application and for touch ups if needed. It's quick and easy to use as you'd expect from an aerosol. It seems like Halfords may have since stopped stocking this as I can't seem to find it on their website. Out of the two I'd definitely suggest using the 2 pack "XT" product. It seems way more durable over the aerosol which I have seen chip off where it doesn't quick bond properly. Just be aware that the official try time on the product is measured in days and I'm fairly sure it recommends a week before "heavy use". I also filled the frame rails with Bilt Hamber Dynax-S50. Ideally you're supposed to put a primer on before the raptor, but I think you can get away without it if you're time limited. I bought 4 bottles which was way too much for what I wanted - a total of two bottles was used on all 4 arches. This is the second car I've got Raptor on, my Mini was done a couple of years ago and I'm very happy with how it's held up. I've only had the 350 done a couple of months so can't speak for longer term durability just yet.
  3. Thanks and yes I believe the colour is paint 😁 The caps are a little bit off in person but I can live with that!
  4. A few more bits done over the last couple of weeks. The black wheels are finally gone and I couldn't be happier with my colour choice 😁 Also added some clear JDM reflectors and a stubby aerial. Finally gave the whole car a 2 stage machine polish and wax which has really made the pearl white shine! A couple of pictures below from before and during a good drive out around Yorkshire Dales/ North Pennines over the weekend.
  5. Excellent day all round! I'm definitely all about garage life now I've had a taste 🤣
  6. After some further investigation I believe this was the wire I ended up splicing in to for ignition power. But this is again the InCarTec harness so maybe slightly different to what you have.
  7. @Stutopia is correct, the first time we rigged everything we had no power to the Bose amp and no sound. On the InCarTec harness used, there was a blue and white cable labelled "Amplifier Remote turn on" with a bullet connector on the end. This needs to be connected to a power source that comes on with the ignition. Be careful as I recall there's an empty female bullet connector on a yellow cable which is live all the time - this will drain your battery if you use it (but would make things work...). Unfortunately I can't remember exactly which power wire we spliced into so a multimeter is your friend in this situation 😁 The cable that was not connect and the cause of no sound. This is the one that I believe was live all the time.
  8. Little mod this weekend putting a new gaiter in with light grey stitching (in an attempt to match the seats which I may have got a little off... 😅). Excellent fit and finish on the product from J F Customs which is always nice Also new valve covers finally fitted (from @ZMANALEX) which should stop that pesky oil getting to the spark plug holes 🤞 No pictures of the new covers on as they were fitted by a mechanic. But inside the covers looks cleaner than expected!
  9. This weekend's task was to add some sound deadening in the boot. Of the journeys I've done so far I've noticed quite a bit of road noise coming from the rear so hoping this will help a bit. I went with Noico 80mil after reading good reviews. Judging by some video's I'd watched, I was a bit concerned I might not have ordered enough. However the opposite turned out to be true where I've only used 4 out of the 9 big sheets with lots of usable off-cuts to spare! Admittedly as you'll see from the pictures, I've been a bit sparing in some areas but my thoughts were: 1. I don't want to cause issues getting trim panels back in place 2. I can always add more at a later date whereas taking it back off would likely be a nightmare. Fortunately all panels went back absolutely fine so I'm taking that I didn't cover up any necessary holes I'll likely add some in other areas of the car as and when I have trim panels off. To finish off the floor I added some foil tape on the seams to stop the Noico material sticking to things on top of it.
  10. It is one that's a split reg plate light/ camera. PM'ed you the link.
  11. Thank you, I think they are frost white. Although I'm not too familiar with the options yet 😅 They need a bit of attention on the bolsters at some point just due to wear and tear
  12. This weekends activities - Install new boot struts, a head unit and a reverse camera. A massive thanks to @Stutopia for helping get it all installed. First job: Boot struts now holding the lid up strong. Also removed the weight whilst I was in there which helped too. Second up: Head unit install (upgrade from factory unit). The optional extra Clarion radio transmitter already had a nest of wiring behind the dash which was fun to work with 😅 Also fun searching for the correct cable to splice into for factory amp remote turn on. Tracked down the right wires eventually and all sounded fantastic. Even the steering wheel controls work! 😁 Head unit: Sony XAV-AX3250 Adapter harness: incartec Faceplate/ surround: incartec Last job was fitting a reverse camera in the number plate bulb location. After what felt like dismantling 90% of the car and further wiring fun, the camera comes on automatically when reverse is engaged and returns to previous screen when it's disengaged. Very happy with that Camera unit: Ebay
  13. Bit of additional machining by a friend to make the gear knob sit lower and add a recess for the factory gator to sit in 😎 before/ after
  14. Time to give the car a good service (taking some recommendations from the many helpful forum posts 😁). Judging by the fluids that came out of it, it's not been too long since most of this was done, but I always like to start from square 1 with any car I buy. Power steering cooler and hoses are definitely on the list to be addressed imminently. Apparently topping up the PS fluid was the previous solution to this... Next up lets just remove those coil packs... uh oh... Guess we'll add a new valve cover to that list too. The rear most plug was significantly worse than this, I just don't have a picture. Other than those couple of things it's looking OK right now. Definitely feels much smoother with a fresh set of fluids in
  15. Thanks! In all honesty I want to get the wheels changed to another colour I know all to well how much of a slippery slope mods can be too 😅
  16. Test fit of a anodized gear knob a friend machined for me as the stock one was looking a bit tired 😎
  17. Hi all, Fairly new to Zed ownership (a few weeks in) and wanted to create a thread to keep track of any mods I do to the car. I don't have any big plans in mind currently, but it's always nice to be able to look back at what you've changed. I mostly plan to make visual and quality of life changes to the car whilst updating/ restoring things that have seen better days. I'm very conscious that that I don't to make changes that have a negative impact on comfort (boring I know, but I already own a car that's been down the performance route!). My car is a 2008 HR in Pearl White. As far as I can tell the car is totally stock inside and out (apart from window tint) with minimal rust on the underside. A couple pictures below whilst I was out and about on some back roads today.
  18. Thanks, I'm not to familiar with the spec options yet but I'm calling it a win 😁 Might see if I can get a dealer to run me off an original spec sheet (not sure if Nissan do that but I managed to get one for my Mini).
  19. Thanks! I'm hoping that's the case, it certainly looks very clean from what I've seen so far 😄
  20. Same here, knew it was the one when I saw it 😁
  21. Hi All, After months of searching I've finally purchased myself a 350z HR! @Stutopia being a legend helping all the way through to collecting the thing 😎 The car is a 2008 plate, 108k on the clock, in white with a white (ivory?) interior. The car seems totally unmolested as far as I can tell, which is exactly what I was looking for after getting far to carried away with my Mini JCW which is now used mostly for track days. I've had the car up on a ramp and looks fairly rust free apart from the W brace (I was pre-warned). Someone has gone to the trouble of putting some underseal on the rear arches and some of the underside which is nice. I have no major plans for modifications (yet 👀) as I intend to keep the car as a comfy GT. First port of call is a major service of fluids etc as other than oil services and MOTs, receipts are unfortunately minimal. Some new tyres have also been bumped up the list due to many free screws and nails being included with the purchase! Picture below from collection day. Better quality photos to follow soon...
  22. Definitely one of the top days this year. Also a new challenge of learning how to make the rear of the car stay in check on the cold surface! Roll on 2023 track season 😎 (and Zed purchase 👀)
