  1. I know my reversing sensors are extremely keen, I get the single beep when reverse is engaged, followed by a rapid beep when approaching an obstruction which gets more rapid the closer I get. Some times it'll happen, I'll instantly sh!t myself and brake, have a double check, and I'm still 3 foot away from the garden post

I don't think mines an issue, with the limited rear viability in these cars,I like the fact that its over cautious,

......If only I could apply the same settings to my wifes car!

That describes the 1st gear issue perfectly. I've done a fair bit of reading this weekend about my 2 issues and the 1st gear delay is quite often related to the gearbox oil being a bit to low. I'm currently trying to find a Nissan specialist garage local to me to check and change the fluid on my box, though I may just get the main dealer to do it tomorrow while it's in for a service.

Just an update on this, after reading this post and suffering the same issues, particularly the delay in dropping from 2nd to 1st gears I decided to get the AT fluid drained and refilled with fresh dexron VI fluid and the difference is night and day!

Its completely resolved the issue and feels like driving a new car!! My Zed has done 50K mikes, so definitely ignore the Nissan recommendation that the OEM fluid lasts a lifetime, if anyone is experiencing similar issues, its definitely worth swapping out the fluid to see if that resolves.

    Cheers

  3. looking to replace my worn OEM 370Z logo floor mats if anyone has any they dont need, looking for new, or very good condition ideally. Also interested in getting hold of an original logo'd boot liner, I suspect the carpet in my Z is an aftermarket replacement

    cheers

  4. Hi Guys,

I've removed my stock undertray from my 2009 370Z and replaced with an aluminium Torqen tray. Seems a shame to throw it away if someone can use it, its a little battered with some heave scrapes as you can see in the photo's, but still does the job, I also have the majority of of the fixings. If anyone can use it, let me know, its free to a good home. collection only from the Fylde Coast area of Lancashire

  5. Morning all,

Just a quick one, I replaced the air intakes pipes on my 2009 370Z over the weekend and fitted some silicone intake tubes, cant say I've noticed any difference in performance or sound, but hey ho, it kept me out of trouble for 45 mins.

The passenger side intake hose had an additional chamber (as per the photo), which the replacement silicone upgrade didn't accommodate for.

I was just curious, what does this chamber do? and if it does serve a purpose, why isn't it required on upgraded silicone intake pipes?

    many thanks

Hi mate i bought them from torqen  where can i get them from with the hole for the manual key

I said all the ones I had seen had the keyhole cut out, now that I've looked again that cant be true, I had these stuck in my mind, I saw them on this site, but its a U.S site, and looks very armature, so not sure I'd like to risk my hard earned cash, and even if they were legit, you'll probably get spanked with import tax.

     http://www.evo-r.net/product/370Z/index.html

I understand your concern about not being able to use your key, but the Torqen's do look far nicer without the manual key hole. Plus, on the off chance you do need to use your manual key, surely they don't stick on to the point you couldn't carefully remove the drivers side cover to get in the car, then re-apply with some double sided 3m tape? it would only be once in a blue moon

If you can get over that issue, I'd stick with your Torqens, thats where I'll be going

Great! if this isn't something I have to live with, I'd love to get it sorted. Let me know how you get on after the transmission fluid change, if that sorts it, that's definitely going to be the next job!

Hi just bought evo r handle covers really like them but i haven't put them on as there is no hole for manual key lock, does anyone have a solution as i really don't want to send them back:blush:

Where did you get the covers from mate? I'm looking to buy some, but all the ones I've seen have the manual keyhole present.

"I’ve also noticed that there can sometimes be a delay in selecting 1st when pulling up to a stop and then immediately pulling away again. I go to accelerate and the revs rise and then 1st engages with causes the car so surge forward slightly due to the high revs."

It’s a 2014 model with 34k miles on it and as far as I’m aware has never had a transmission fluid change.

    Cheers.

my 2009 with 51K does exactly the same in first gear, stop at a junction, slight delay before kicking in, then seems to jump forward all of a sudden, and if you happen to give it any gas during this pause, when it does engage, the back end spins out of control, I've done this a couple of times at low speeds in the wet and ended up sideways!! I just thought this was one of the characteristics of the car that I'd have to get used to?? id also appreciate any advise if this doesn't sound right,

    cheers

  10. Morning all,

Mods - Please could you move this post to the 370 Performance section.

  11. Hi everyone, firstly I just wanted to say hello, and thank you!

New proud owner of my first 370Z and loving it, previously I've always owned Alfa's for many years and just taken my Brera off the road and into storage while I scratch my itch of moving over to the Z club. I've only had the car a few weeks, but forums and DIY guides I've taken from here have already been a god send, so thanks to everyone who takes the time to contribute, you've no idea how much it helps a new owner like myself out.

keep up the good work, and looking forward to getting involved on here

  12. just a quick update, ordered 2 new front wheel bearings overnight delivery which arrived first thing this morning, before I started the swap out, I just thought I'd look under the bonnet and check the nuts on the top of the dampers, sure enough, the centre 17mm nut on both were loose, one barely on by a thread, tightened both up, went for a spin, noise gone! :yahoo:

best return these wheel bearings and find something else to do with my morning now!

From your description a failed wheel bearing does seem the most obvious problem, given you checked there are no stones between the disc and shield ?

Given what you have done, in the process did you check out if the noise was there with the car jacked up and turning the wheel + checking for play?  Might sound daft, but did you also (thoroughly) check the tyre(s) to see if there was any sign of potential carcass failure or something embedded  in the tread?

Otherwise, if you have a breakdown cover give them a call is about the best option I can suggest. (Away from home of course;))

Thanks for that. So trust me, the noise is that bad it cant be anything tyre related, its far too bad, but I have checked them over and they are both fine.

I did check both sides while the car was jacked up, although I couldn't say there wasn't any play at all in the wheels, i certainly couldn't  replicate the noise be vigorously shaking the wheels, so it seems worse when under load?

    thanks

  14. Hi guys, just after anyone's thoughts or previous experience.  yesterday my front left wheel developed a high pitched whining sound all of a sudden, I had a look on here and there were a few suggestions that it could be grit caught behind the brake disc in -between the thin protective plate, as I was due to fit some 20 spacers anyway, I had the wheels off, made sure everything was clean and greased, fitted the spacers and popped the wheels back.

When I got in the car this morning, the front end was making a terrible rumbling and knocking at very low speed (10/15mph) so I immediately turned back and removed the spacers I fitted the previous day.

Unfortunately, this didn't resolve the issue, I still have this terrible noise coming from the front end, no high pitched noise anymore (although I've not been over 20mph) but the car feels and sounds terrible. I could understand if this was an issue that had escalated over time, but this has come from nowhere  within a day????

does anyone have any thoughts? I initially thought wheel bearings, but can these go from okay, to fooked.....just like that???

    appreciated any input,

    cheers

    Martin

  15. Apologies if this isn't the correct sub forum, bit of a strange one, so I wasn't sure where it best fit?

I wondered if anyone had attempted a DIY wheel arch lining before?  :)

I lowered my Z last weekend with the Eibach Pro kit which looks awesome, however, since doing so, I've noticed a massive increase in cabin noise from the rear wheel arches, the tyres are flicking up gravel into the plastic liners, which is noticeably louder now than it was with the OEM springs.

Soooo....happy to be laughed out of hear, but I've bought a 2m roll of waterproof 3mm polyethylene foam, which I'm planning on cutting into 2 rear wheel arch liners and sticking to the existing plastic liners with some adhesive spray. I'm hoping that this this soft barrier will cancel out the majority of the noise from crap flicking up and hitting the hard plastic liners? I don't expect it to last forever, but for less than £15 all in, and an hours work on a Saturday morning, if it works, I'm happy to re-apply every few months.

I'm hoping to undertake my arts & craft project this weekend if the foam arrives in time, I'll let you know how I get on!

    Cheers

  16. Hi guys,

If anyone's, breaking a 2009 370Z and has this small interior part I'd be interested in buying it. Its just the small Auxiliary 3.5mm jack input that's located in the centre console storage next to the 12v input, mine given up, which means I cant connect my ipod,

    cheers

Hi and welcome along buddy. Nice looking car. You shouldn't have any issues with rubbing if you go for the eibach springs. I had them on mine with 11J rear wheels with a 25mm spacer for flushness.

Thanks Andy, it is strange, but its definitely making contact light contact somewhere?  usually on an uneven road. I'll try the spacer option, hopefully that will clear it from whatever its catching on
