  1. Wanted to share the progress of my 350Z Nismo, still a lot of work to do but latest modifications were SOHO motorsports crash bar and a Z1 carbon long tube intake. Looks great :)

Nice one fella, let us informed. Hopefully they stated which side throttle body as there's two.

Yeah they did, was the driver side.

Coolant is no longer going down, seems that issue must have just been the car was not bleed properly.

Car still lagging a little, will now look at options for the throttle body. Do you know if there is an alternative to the OEM or is it best just to go with the very expensive OEM :(

"I just replaced the radiator and thermostat, they are now Mishimoto, coolant bleeding was done properly and the car does not over heat."

From years on here, many times issues have cropped up by not following the correct bleeding of the coolant - the heater being often being the 'culprit'.  Only offering the thought in case this may be related

    See here:

Seems to be so many different instructions on what to follow, this is very detailed, thanks for that.

  4. Ok, so this has taken another twist.

Yesterday I checked the coolant before driving to work, it was a little low, I topped it up and then drove to work.

After work, I checked again, it was slightly low. There is no leak, the oil seems fine and there is no overheating or smoke from the exhaust.

Would this suggest my issue is head gasket?

Don't get a Nissan Mainstealer to do it, go to a specialist, I take mine to Abbey Motorsport in Oxted from Leicester.

If it's already been done, there should be some paperwork from a previous owner.

I just notice you mentioned an exhaust, is that with stock CATs? I'm pretty sure if you've gone with HFCs or test pipes, you're supposed to get a remap as well for it to run right?

I am in Japan, will go to Nissan due to it being near by and there not being an suitable option close to me. When I know what needs done, then I will get it done somewhere else or do it myself if it's not too difficult.

The exhaust is a cat back, was on the car when I got it almost 2 years ago.

    Random guesses:

Have you checked fluid levels on everything?

Brake fluid being low can cause odd behaviour.

Have you had the oil gallery gaskets done?

If I understand correctly, this can lead to the variable valve timing system not working correctly, could that have this effect?

I checked the fluid, they are all fine.

I haven't had the gallery gaskets done since I owned the car. I will have to put it into Nissan for them to look at it.

  7. Yesterday, on my way home, I noticed that the car was not driving as smoothly as normal, there was a laggy throttle response at lower revs. Did a bit of research on that and was told it could be the fuel pump.

Today on my way home, I still had that laggy throttle response but things took a turn for the worse. I was driving along at around 15mph and the engine, TCS and slip light all came on and then car went into limp mode, could only drive about 6mph.

I parked up, switched the car off. I had the fault reader (very basic one) in the car, so connected that and turned the car on. The lights were all off and there was no codes. The car then drove with normal power, still with the laggy throttle though.

When I open my engine bay, it seems very hot, I know its normally hot after driving but this seems hotter than normal.

My car is a 2007 HR

I just replaced the radiator and thermostat, they are now Mishimoto, coolant bleeding was done properly and the car does not over heat.

The engine is standard, I have an exhaust only. I replaced the spark plugs and panel filter within the last 4000 miles.

Would be grateful for any information on what this could be.

Not sure but had a couple Japanese guys complaining on one of my videos about why they didnt make it 2.5 liter or something like that lol

If it was a 2.5 it would be about £75 cheaper per year than the 3 ltr. If they are complaining about it being a 3 ltr then maybe they should go for a BRZ/GR86 :)

I dont see blue Jaguars around. Ill take blue or white. 2023 I reckon depreciation would be primarily minor by then. A couple grand off used models due to demand.

High taxes could see a couple come up on Nissan used car network. I got some practice in with Nissan JP. Sites a bit twitchy.

Real issue is the duties and vat

The yearly taxes for the Z will be cheaper than my 350Z and the 370Z due to engine size. The new Z will fall into the lower category than the Z33 and Z34.

I think the front bumper on the new z and the headlights are looking very much like the new GR 86 dont if anyone else has the same opinion

I think the running light on the bottom of the headlights and the big open area on the bumper mkaes it look more similar than it actually is.

I don't like the mesh on the Z bumper, its something I would hope there is an aftermarket solution for.

Pretty sure you don't need a driving license to own a car. And it's not like you'll be driving it back here... ;)

Its about owning the car for 6 months in Japan, to save the tax and duty costs when I take it back.

In Japan you have to have a licence to register a car, meaning her not having a licence would not allow me to have it under her name.

Lucky bugger. Might go teach English for a year once ive got enough lol...Save £8,000

More than 1 car you might be liable check...what if it was your Wife/GF car. 1 per person

Unfortunetly, she doesnt have a driving license. Something to worry about at a later date though, As it stands I only have one car to worry about :)

Will you take a bank transfer via Western Union and keep one on your drive for a year and bring it back with you? 🤣

    I wish I could.

I am actually not sure how many cars you can use this 12 months out the country for. I would also be taken back my 350Z Nismo, so hoping it works for both.

If you've lived there 12 months and owned it 6 months and can show proof. Youd only be liable for 10% duty. Tax exempt. Just need IVA and MOT. There are companies that could do the full DVLA /IVA process

Road tax should be reasonable as under £40,000 retail.bUsed this site as reference

    Lucky bugger! 😁

Based on the information from shippingmycar.co.uk I wouldnt ahve to pay Duty or Tax if I own the car for over 6 months, I have already been out the country for over 12 months, so no issue there.

Initially i wasn't sure about the 400Z, i felt it was trying too hard to be retro.

But after some time and mainly seeing it in some other than that revolting yellow in the press release:

    I really like it!  :throb:

Although you need to see a car like this in the flesh ofc

Its screaming out for a replacement front bumper though, that mesh (or whatever you want to call it) doesnt look that great on that grey, didnt notice it to the blue or yellow until I seen this, now I cant un see it.

Blue for me. I cant see it being cheap in Japan lol. If the Sport spec is £28,750 that is US market only. I reckon that would translate to £30,000+ JDM....

Hope the JDM version removes that side light lol. Not needed outside US. Blue suits it very well.

Ive started saving officially lol. I counted a tenner after smashing the piggy bank. Ill let you know if I ever reach the ballpark for a used one. Ill have to take a trip! Not going over £30k on what is essentially a tech packed 370Z. If used Performance spec becomes available at £26k from £34k new thats good going. Tbh its yen we should be concerned with although left hand drive is barely an option

I want an Auto this time! Still bang for buck but Nissan USA have a thing with dealer markups. So some dealers will list a lot higher if demand is strong. Biggest complaint state side. Maybe youll get it cheaper than stateside as a result.

    Opened a spec thread.

I would think there will be no side markers, been that case with all previous models. Good luck with your saving :)

About time, good to see new contributions to the thread lol...At one point it became echo chambers. 😂

At this point I cant see past the blue, yellow looks great but like the blue is much classier.

Japan said they will announce their price and release date in Winter, I will have to be patient. If they charge much more than the U.S model, then I would probably not buy it.

@dean_asla Colours are listed on previous page. This is whats available for 2022 until further notice

Only 3 colours will be offered without the two tone look. 2 colours come without the black roof.

Its impossible to list every option and feature in one place. Was going to open up a specs and features thread tbh

Also just like USA are getting 240 Z Proto limited editions. I think Japan will get their own version of limited editions at some point.

Nissan USA said there wont be the traditional preorders.

Yeah I assume Nismo will be around $55,000 while Performance could be $45,000 without some specced options

Thanks for that, I looked twice on your original post and still missed it :) .

Yeah you should open up a spec thread and pin the important information, will be useful for me anyway :)

4 million Yen seems cheaper than a 370z Nismo with very low miles

The 370Z base model new in Japan is 3.8 million, 4 million for base Nissan Z should be about right. Nissan Z Nismo will be around 6.5-7 million yen based on the 370z new price.
