If you go on tarmac youtube the new style is there. Yep ill keep you posted when the freeze is over

Haha that's my car! 😋 Didn't even know they filmed a YouTube vid for it lol, that's awesome, think I was their first fitting of the rear lights so not surprised they did a video. Also got my motordyne shockwave fitted that day, love both upgrades! Highly recommend :)

    Proper well sorted 370z there.

Zeds are totally transformed with a few mods.

Amazing how so many different wheel designs suit the Z.

I even remember someone fitting BMW 6 or 7 series rims to his zed and it actually worked really well due to their deep concave design!

Appreciate it pal! Just waiting on some other parts to come then I'll be finished for abit haha. ;)

You're totally right mate! There are so many to choose from which makes it even more difficult to pick lol. Such a big decision,  picking a set of wheels, I feel abit calmer now. No way haha that sounds crazy  But yeah the Z takes on concave wheels very nicely indeed!

Nice looking rims mate, i need to get my zed to sit at that ride height

Thank you very much mate I appreciate it. Looks alot more full when it is lowered which I love. There are so many coilovers to choose from, I've heard great things from a few suppliers such as BC Racing and KW etc. Even lowering springs will do.

You def need a new camera, or to learn how to use the auto edit function on your phone

They look nice though, but please get some better pics!

These pictures were from my mate as his camera on his phone is better then mine lol, as he sent them to me the quality may have been compressed, but I get here you're coming from, actually had to crop myself out on one of them haha. But yeah will do for sure! Want to get some proper pics from a photographer etc

  5. Hi all,

Recently had my set of Forgestar F14's in Bronze Burst fitted to my Z and I love them! Had them fitted with a set of KW V3's, looks and feels great! My camera doesn't do the colour justice but here are a few pics :)

  6. Ordered my Motordyne Shockwave back at the start of Feb, was given around about May time for delivery. They have recently announced that they have stopped taking new orders for the time being due to the backlog being too large.

For the time being I am sporting the Torqen Short Tail's which has a lovely low, deep, throaty sound which is very addicting. Granted they aren't a Cat back but great for being a budget exhaust, was only looking for the sound back when I bought them. Highly recommend if you aren't chasing gains, made such a difference. My car insta is @Pughz34 which has a comparison for you.

  7. Thank you very much mate, appreciate it! Yeah it's crazy how strong some subs are, they do surprise everyone haha.

Honestly I'm a beginner, this was all a first for me so goes to show anyone can do it! But if it ever does go just let me know, I'll be happy to help 👍🏻

Thats exactly what I wanted, the boot space is small as it is and couldn't afford to lose anymore lol. Thanks :)

  8. Hi all,

I recently finished my first ever subwoofer install and I am very happy with the outcome so just wanted to do a quick write up on it!

So like most I had a spare wheel area that was just wasted space and thought it was perfect for a subwoofer, I needed abit more bass and have read mixed reviews over the bose sub that comes with the car so decided to go down the aftermarket route.

My set up is a Juice 1201D Mono amp and a JBL GT4-12 series sub.

I started with cutting out an area for the amp.

    20210314_133104.jpg.98612102bc8df5bea966fdf896cd97b5.jpg

Then needed to measure how big of an enclosure I needed so made measurements. My first idea was to stack circles ontop of eachother, layer by layer to build up an enclosure but realised this would create a lot of wastage so decided to turn a circle into a 10 sided shape using vectors and a compass etc.

    20210320_205819.jpg.a979fa73b922875fe60845a490a32ca6.jpg

So I had my measurements and decided to start cutting some 18mm MDF. Started with the top that the sub was going to be attached to and the circle needed sanding abit to make it fit very snug which is what I wanted. Then used that circle as a template for the bottom circle but to my surprise I somehow missed that there is a slight taper towards the bottom so I had so cut and sand abit more to make it fit.

    20210319_223755.jpg.d3e703e73caa82b8941affaf63849cdc.jpg

I painted the bottom of the sub to see if it was touching the bottom circle which is was so used a router to extract about an 8mm depth around the area of the sub. 20210320_164439.jpg.1313e89bcd7eda58b2c2c1611d0c55bc.jpg

Then I started with the 10 sides with a joining angle of 18°. The math I used for the sides was created using the top circle dimensions however as the bottom circle was much smaller it meant the sides weren't going to fit, well 9 out of 10 did but instead of taking some off of each side to make the last one fit, I just made one side smaller as I didn't mind much as you can't see it, I then glued it using tape on the back side which held it together.

    IMG-20210326-WA0005.jpg.03a6b2fd70fee599f70692793ef69419.jpg

    Then gluing the rest.

    20210331_203856.jpg.ec4bb2ed7f3710141acf4b68d7feb249.jpg

I simply used the foam enclosure to act as a clamping method then put a weight on the top plate and let it cure.

    IMG_20210331_205419_935.jpg.3c243a77736e918be5f21ff42195562b.jpg

Some of the corners do stick out the bottom as it is smaller then the top however this works to my advantage and secures it in the foam enclosure at the bottom.

Next bit was feeding all the wires, i sourced some 4 gauge OFC wire for power and earth and some 14 gauge OFC for speaker wires, to crimp the lugs to the end I used the old vice and a ball bearing trick which worked beautifully. I sourced the wiring harness from r35audio, he was kind enough to sell it to me individually as he has a great sub kit. It plugs into the back of the headunit and runs off 2 RCA's and a Remote cable, the oem harness just plugged into the back of the new harness so it was like a little extension.

Here is a summary of feeding through all the wires:

    20210328_160738.jpg.740b288c15b7740b8f3112d6d7a72b2f.jpg

I routed the wires by following factory harnesses. I cable tied everything to make sure it was tidy and that body panels wouldn't have any obstruction. Every panel only really consisted of clips and one had one 10mm bolt either side but that's it!.

I put everything back in, connected the amp, painted the top of the box and drilled a hole to feed the speaker wires through. 20210329_163958.jpg.a8944a166a0e2a1c7b00765f806bec55.jpg

I screwed on the sub and a grill I bought off of amazon for a little protection and all done! Well sortof, I bought a cheap boot mat for £14.99 which I need to cut a whole out of for the speaker and also to buy some plastic for the underlay under the boot mat. I also had to use an angle grinder to chop off the threaded body at the bottom of the boot to make the enclosure fit, along with some foam off the bottom but not all of it.

Finished product and yes it sounds great!

    20210330_090747.jpg.f44eb534721c5a1f2639a638267b2c8f.jpg

Also routed a remote for the sub to the drivers side:

    IMG-20210401-WA0003.jpg.b74b9b31f1f6bd3dec3a84a046712421.jpg

Very happy with how it came out in the end, just a few more finishing touches with the carpet etc and that's it!

If you made it this far, thanks for reading my write up :) if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me either on here or drop me a PM! take care.

I think that plugs into the small Bose amp and then to the sub.

Checking again it does look like the plug to the Sub.

Do you have the small Bose amp installed? It sits in the boot behind the cabin/boot separator

I replaced mine with an aftermarket option, my post below.

Have the sub and amp in the loft (from my 2018 GT)

If you are interested - would be costly to courier though I expect

Thanks for getting back to me. The amp is probably still there, I tried to have a look today for the amp but struggled to remove the polystyrene bit below the crash bar, seemed to be under the weird plastic bits so do I have to remove the plastic bits to remove it? Will this aid the process?

Did you manage to use the wires that plugged into your bose amp for your aftermarket amp? Also there are RCA ports in the center console area, fan I use these to plug into the amp or do I have to feed wires into the HU?

Here is the sub I have (pic below) still need to get a amp and make an enclosure for it.

    20210207_134132.jpg.226658e917bf2951320c0cbf6df289bc.jpg

  10. I bought a 2016 nismo but unfortunately either the previous owner took the bose sub or it didn't come with one, either way the cable and connector is still in the boot.

My question is, can you tap into those wires and connect it to an aftermarket amp and sub? The wires on the cable are Black, Green, White and Red. Am I wrong to think this is power, earth left and right?

Any help or advice would be appreciated cheers20190924_162048.jpg.5fb15dc0575f22256cb35cc072585a1f.jpg

I would suggest contacting Bob at Tarmac Sportz in Derby. About and hour from you. Bob has vast experience with the 350/370Z and will either fix the problem for you or offer honest advice.

I am on my 5th Zed. The previous 4 have all had rather 'agricultural' gearboxes, especially when cold, but nothing that I would have described as really bad.

My current 370Z is a 2016 and the gearbox and clutch are really sweet. Its a GT but I'm not aware that the clutch and gearbox are any different on the Nismo.

Thanks the help, Bob fitted my 4th brake light so I might contact him and ask for some advice, unaware if they do or do not have the same transmission, I have a feeling they do for some reason, many thanks

Sounds like you need to take off the gear gaiter and readjust the gear shifter plate, that's usually one issue and most linked to 5th/6th gear shift. Google tells me it is usually a problem when the clutch is changed etc.

Most 370z's struggle with 2nd and many spend silly money trying to fix the phantom grinding issue. There's a technique, usually better letting 1st gear rev out and changing after 4k or 5k revs. Could also try an aftermarket gear stick with a little more weight to help with gear changes.

Ask the mechanic to take the OEM transmission mount off, give it a clean and put it back on. Personally I think it's less an issue and more an adjustment to the Japanese/Nissan transmission - assuming the car is a manual.

Plenty of independent specialists but with what you've said, I don't think it warrants a visit. No error codes, no stupid noises or clutch pedal not returning. Maybe get someone else to drive the car and see what they say?

Sorry for the late response and thank you very much for your suggestion, you could be right about the adjustment. And yes it is a manual. I recently just had it serviced yesterday and the only thing that flagged up was that my clutch master cylinder fluid was contaminated. Could this be a sign of the clutch slave cylinder on its way out? And could that be a result of all my problems? The biting point is also literally as you're taking your foot off the clutch, that's how high it is lmao, cheers

  13. Thanks for getting back to me, can you recommend any Z specialists? I have no problem travelling :). Last time I posted about the tranny I was a 25k miles and currently at 27600 miles.

Symptoms include not being able to get into 2nd gear, having to wait a second or two until the rpms drop for it to go into place. Loud clunk when it does slip into it not smooth at all and makes the car judder, sometimes I have experienced a grinding sound and the feeling of clunking of the internal splines on the gears which is horrible. Recently started to experience not being able to go into 6th gear aswell when coming onto the motorway.

I can say it is worse when it is cold but still happens when warm just not as much. Hope this helps

  14. Hi all,

I've posted in the past my problem with the transmission of my 2016 370z Nismo and it's getting worse/deteriorating. I replaced the transmission fluid with the highly recommended redline mt-85 but it has unfortunately not changed anything in my case :(. Ive taken it to 2 nissan dealerships now yet they have both came to the conclusion of no fault found and turned me away. I'm going to try have my car booked into for the 3rd time for a diagnostic and see what they say. If they say they no fault found again I can request to have them take off the transmission and have a look inside at either the synchros or the CSC, this will all be at my expense if they don't find a problem and therefore the warranty company won't cover it. Its a big risk so what should I do? Which route do you guys recommend?

  15. I sure will drop him a follow thanks.

Righteo I understand that now, probably will have the P3 at 27000 miles then I believe. And I think I'd like to change my oils before then so will see that in the near future but I really think that this isn't a normal feel, I believe it's the syncros 100%. I came from a totally different spectrum car so I knew it was gonna be more notchy and stiffer but this isn't right I think, will try get it sorted out thanks for the help

    I had similar.
    Grinding 5-6th on a similar mileage 2011.
I was 2nd owner and had the car less than a year and it had come from a Nissan shop with the Nissan cared4 (factory approved used car) warranty.

Repaired under that by Kaizer - non factory shop but authorised to repair and a recognised GTR specialist.

Was told it could be possibly because previous owner maybe used to lean or have some rest hand on the shifter type action while in gear.
As a result happier it happened as it's one of those things you can't easily check and I now have the proof of inspection and rebuild.

And always been of conscious not to lean on shifter!

But I already knew that as I run another car with full mechanical linkages all the way from box to shifter and a mechanical clutch so all too well experienced with how over 50 year old technology and parts and the gearbox connections and linkages wearing out and being forced to do clutchless shifting that goes with it!

Yeah I've always been aware of the don't rest on the shifter and clutch etc so I know it's not my part. Like your situation the previous owner probably did :/

I'll see what nissan will say or if they will get back to me during this pandemic but would be interesting if I can take it to an approved garage to get it looked at, it's horrible and really getting in my nerves.

    Hopefully it would be covered

  17. 43 minutes ago, Umster said:

I'd also say let another Z driver test drive your car - or for you to drive another Z and feel the difference.

Assume the diff and gearbox oils have never been refreshed? Has it ever had a P3?

I have drove another newer nismo in the past but didnt feel similar to my situation. Unfortunately I don't know anyone else who owns a Z near me, lonely ranger haha so I'm stuck lol.

And I haven't had the car long enough for a service, I presume or hope they refresh the oils lol. Personally I haven't refreshed the oils in the 7000 miles I've had it. Sorry I don't know what you mean by P3?

  18. Thought so, I've read about it alot and many people have the same issue I'm having but I've only seen older cars such as 07 etc with higher miles have it, unusual for mine but guess this stuff happens.

Do I have to go to a nismo specialised nissan garage or can I go to the normal passenger car nissan dealership? The reason is I live quite far from any nismo garage.
