  1. Haha no way, I owned this car for a tiny amount of time last year, I had my supercharged 350z at the time so ended up selling it to my friend for the same price I paid for it. He unfortunately didn't own it for too long and had the new clutch installed.

Not exactly sure what you have done but the head unit is coded to the ECU. So if you ever need to remove and sell the head unit, you have to get them unlinked then you can sell it.

So yes they are definitely linked but not sure to what capacity and if the cutting of wires created an issue. On a side note, removing the head unit the normal way is so simple. Not sure how come you couldn't remove it at first.

The plugs were super mauled so couldn’t even unplug them, I’ve taken radios out of 2 Z’s in the past with no problems but this one just wouldn’t come out and being a car that can’t be put back on the road we thought we’d just cut it. Maybe a fuse popped that is causing the immobiliser to stay on? Maybe it's completely unrelated?

  3. Hello everyone,

a bit of back story, a friend and I picked up a car that we’re turning into a track car and breaking some parts to make the money back.

Today we decided to take the center console out and remove the old radio, gauges and the white box that connects the fans etc.

we couldn't get the radio out at first so we decided to cut the wires that went into the OEM radio and then leave the clips inside the radio as a temporary solution (stupidly), I then went to turn on the car and realised the car wouldn’t fire up, it would turn over. It looked like the fuel sender went bad because it was showing no fuel, I thought that was odd so decided to plug everything I could back in, fan control module, gauges and it was now showing the fuel level I expected. But still didn’t fire up.

Next we realised the red immobiliser was solid red when the ignition was on, and when the car was locked I noticed the immobiliser flashing like crazy for a couple of seconds.

any information on what I may have done would be hugely appreciated, maybe the radio wires somehow are linked to the BCM/ECU? Causing the immobiliser to not be happy? I guess a fuse could of popped?

I can still unlock the car with my key etc. Went off in a huff, will check fuses tomorrow.

So I don’t really know to go for this ebay turbo kit and they’ll have to modify it to get it to fit or get an actual UK made turbo for the 350z by Kudaka Performance and just spend a bit more?

There's a lot that makes a difference, I believe the Rev9 kit you are referencing is top mount, and the Kudaka kit is a mid mount, which requires an oiling system, scavenge pump etc. Which are usually fine however more moving parts to fail, I can't say I've looked into the Kudaka kit and the spec of it. Heat will play a big part in both if you like to hoon it, so maybe up-rate the cooling system also.

    cheap, fast, reliable, pick two.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a supercharger kit as I plan on tracking the car and don't want to forge the engine. Plus the units being standalone units appeal a lot more to me. Less to go wrong too personally.

Hiya, no plans from me to organise anything yet. I am not sure if anything will be possible from my end through June but hopefully early July. But you can always organise something amongst yourselves, just pick a place and a time :)

Also nice to see a new local owner, hope you are enjoying owning one. I still smile to myself every time I sit in mine and start her up and other people seem to enjoy seeing my Z on the road as much as I do :)

Sounds good to me, maybe @davidv10 and I could organise a little Yarmouth meet soon? With everyone from the groupchat etc.

I was interested in it, however it seemed apparent something was fishy from the get go, I tried my luck to lowball him, and he was slowly coming down in price each time, he was desperate to shift this car for some reason. The car was originally priced for 14k.

The guy isn't very good at English, however not being a problem, I done some digging, when I asked if the car had cats etc as it doesn't have an MOT he said it had High Flow Cats, however on the eBay listing it says it has a full decat.

Then says he wants cash and won't take bank transfer etc.

I ask to view the car and he says he wants to agree on a price first, we go back and forth, the price moves a bit.

I give my final offer and ask for an MOT at KwikFit to prove it's a neutral MOT and serve as a secure place where I know I won't get robbed. He refuses the MOT at Kwikfit.

I do some digging and I find this, which I believe is the same car - the log book of this car kind of matches up to the listing date :

    Spoiler

    No description available.

Something doesn't seem right here, in my opinion. Which is a shame as it would have been a bargain. Obviously he could have had the work done, however judging by the advert it doesn't seem like he is very transparent. Obviously he could have had the work done to fix it, however surely he then wouldn't sell it a few months later? He kept telling me there was nothing wrong with the car despite never asking if there was, and more and more details keep coming to light on the advert as he updates it.

If this isn't allowed please delete/move to relevant section. Thanks

Hi, I currently drive the most beautiful 350z DE 2006 model. It is my project car that has never been on a track, never gets driven hard, it's Supercharged with a V3 vortech supercharger about 6 months ago. I am a teacher and it is my destress while my colleagues hit the drink. Near enough £20k spent on extras including a dragon fire red wrap.  I wasn't interested in selling for a few years yet until I approach my mid 50s, unless someone falls in love with the car and wants to make a sizeable offer.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, could you send me a private message with some pictures and more information when you can, thank you.

I'm going with Andy but his LS3 wont be done in time. I am on a stand. Look out for my car and us.

Nice, I'm on a stand now too! I believe they are called flashcars_uk.  Look out for the bumper with paint missing

I also suffered the same juddering as Alex when braking from high speed...

Disc surfaces seem fine and it was doing it all day long as soon as they got hot - anything on the surfaces should have been well scrubbed off?!

Driving the car today, no juddering... which makes me think it's not hub/disc run-out. But would overheating pads cause severe juddering through the sterring wheel?

Having said that, seems the pads might be badly worn after yesterday as the pedal travel and feel has changed drastically - far less travel, making you have to almost stab at the pedal rather than feather it on the road.

ps. Any opinions on DS3000 pads?

Yep, we was in the same boat on Tuesday :)

I am going to be ordering some Performance Friction pads before the next one as well as get the disks skimmed and do a fluid flush and see if that helps. Hopefully they do.

  10. Hi guys, I done a track day yesterday and I was really shocked on how the brakes held up, I am running MTEC disks (grooved and dimpled) with the stock brembo pads, after the first session the car was shaking violently under braking, I guess the stock pads aren't up to the task. I am running motul fluid and have steel braided lines so I think they are fine. The only restriction is the pads I believe?

What does everyone suggest for track use and road use? I was looking at the following options:

    • Ferodo DS2500
    • Hawk Performance HPS
    • EBC Yellowstuff pads (I've heard mixed reviews)

If anyone can give me their two cents on what pads to run as well as what they think of any above that would be great. Thanks
