  2. Hi all,

My girlfriend is currently driving the Zed to work as her car is playing up and I'm still working from home. Lucky her! As usual it's up to me to get her car up to scratch again. This is where I would like a second opinion.

Car in question: 65 plate Astra 1.4 turbo

Temperature guage is on 90 before the engine is even turned on. (Though sometimes it's not!) After going for a drive the temperature started and stayed around 90, it used to be 90 all day long without moving a mm!

Got home and checked the coolant hoses, radiator fins were still cold but then the fan came on and temp went through the roof! Obviously I killed the motor.

To me this is signaling the thermostat but the speed of temperature change and it reading 90 even when cold makes me unsure, could it be just a temp sensor? (Electronic thermostat?)

    Thanks

    Sam

  3. Welcome along :) nice looking car!

    Mod wise,

You can pick up a set of Rays wheels for a few £100 if you want to keep it stock. Known to be some of the best wheels for this car.

Leather seats quite reasonable on eBay as well, theaters wouldn't work but could be a nice upgrade (some people prefer the cloth as you slide a bit more on the leather)

  4. Used to use a grout pen to paint the tyres on my old bikes. It looked good in my opinion, the letters would only be 20mm tall though due to smaller side walls.

On the right car it could look good. Lowered with a big ass wing & aero

  5. Spent almost 3 hours on her today. First clean after driving her every day for the last 3 weeks!

Had a go with some Simoniz paste wax, it was cheap and had some pretty good reviews. Let's see how it behaves over the next couple of weeks

    Signing off.

    Mr Miyagi

  6. Had to go into the office today to pick something up. Couldn't resist taking the bike.

Even with a stubby can and no baffles I still got less judgemental looks than driving a sunset Zed around!

Spent the winter getting this pocket rocket ready for the coming sprint/hill climb season.

An old cup was following me a couple of weeks ago on my way home, it was completely stripped and had a cage fitted.

He overtook me and the car infront coming up to a roundabout and the thing had 0 body roll. Haven't seen anything corner like that before!

    Love the Landy: :#1:

    LANDY.jpg

She's 50 years old this year, hiding her age well till you get behind the wheel.

An engine swap is on the cards soon as it's currently got the standard 2.3L diesel with around 50bhp from new (they recon you lose one a year so...).

A 200tdi is the easiest way to go and it keeps its tax exemption status. Just waiting for one to come up at a sensible price.

  9. Had a drive in an Elise last summer before a friend sold it. Can only imagine what that things like to drive.

I get torn between what to drive/ride when the sun's out.

The Zed for driving to work... And weekends away with the other half,

Yamaha Fazer thou when I feel like going quick, get bored of cars or fancy a road trip with mates. (The picture is of a Scottish summer!)

Series 3 Land Rover for living the slow life. I spend a lot of time fixing it and taking it to car shows, also like to go Laning a couple of times a year of I can.

Always see Zeds when I'm not in mine or other Landys when I'm in the Zed... just look like the crazy guy smiling and waving for no reason!

When I passsd my cbt and got an RS125 I dreamed of a mille. A Tuono is more my riding position now though!

What's living with one like? I only really use bikes for commuting a couple times a week in summer & long touring holidays. Am 6"4 so alot of bikes are quite uncomfortable, currently on an fzs1000s which is a lovely bike but is lacking personality.

Finished the 2BM wash with polishing the tailpipes. Despite washing weekly I hadn't polished them for a good few months.

    Feel so smooth now.

    Polished pipes

    Looks fantastic!

This is on my list to do in the coming week too. Tail pipes and silencer, hopefully there not too far gone :)

  12. Everything is already in pieces on the kitchen table, thankfully everything came apart easily and nothing has broken.

The springs have been removed from inside so it's just this last pivot for a complete strip down. I might end up doing the same thing as Dave, leaving the two sections together and sanding the best I can.

  13. I got told to take my PC home with me yesterday, i'd commuted on the bike so had done around 50 miles in the end after swapping for the car! I've never seen roads this clear!

Beautiful warm sunny day with no-one on the roads. Under other sircumstances it would have been heaven. Oh well now to sit inside and enjoy a trip to Tesco in a few more days! Apparently the panic buying has stopped

  14. Hi all

I decided to repaint my wipers during this lockdown. Still working from home but have alot more time on my hands.

The one thing I've got stuck on is splitting the wiper blades on the pivot. Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Thanks

    Sam
