  1. I'm getting a private plate next month, and wanted to get a reduced legnth front number plate - 355 x 111mm.

The plan was to remove the current number plate bracket from the front and stick the number plate directly on to the bumper over the now exposed holes.

Only problem is the bumper is curved, so will the plate fit properly if I just stick it on or will I need to modify anything?

    Thanks

The antenna needs to be powered to work correctly.

Is there anyway to verify the amplifier is not working correctly? i.e Multi-meter to test voltage via the pins?

My head unit does get signal though, it is just fairly crackly when in other cars there is no issue. Does this sound similar to your problem?

    Thanks for the help

  3. My 57 plate HR has the stock head unit in it, however one of the previous owners had installed an aftermarket HU in it, but this has been reverted back to stock.

The radio signal in the car is pretty terrible, I can jump in my other half's car and the radio is crystal clear, but in my car parked 2 metres away its very fuzzy.

The car currently has a short antenna on it, however I have swapped this back to the OEM antenna and this makes no difference on the car.

I have pulled out all the wiring on the back of the head unit to check nothing was missing. There were a few odd cables that the PO left in place however I have now removed these so everything is back to stock.

The antenna wire that goes into the back of the HU is connected securely, and the green/white power antenna wire is securely connected to the brown plug, and then goes into the back of the HU with the main wiring loom.

Everything looks right, but I don't know if I'm missing something here?

Should the power antenna wire have power when the car is on? If so does anyone know what voltage this should be at so I can check with a multimeter later today?

Or does the car just have poor radio reception normally?

  4. Just bought an RDX aerial from H-Tune as my radio signal is pretty terrible - turns out the aerial isn't the problem, so I now have 2 stubby aerials.

I'm keeping the new one I've bought, and I think the old one is from a Honda Jazz, but it looks identical and the reception is exactly the same as the RDX.

    £5 including P&P.

On a side note - anyone have any idea what could be the cause of the crap signal?  I can hop in my other half's car and put on the same channel and it's not crackly at all...

Excuse the dirt on the car, I've just got back from a 4hr drive and the roads are covered in crap.

if you try accelerating from 30mph in 4th and see if the revs rise with the speed or shoot up then you'll know if the clutch is slipping. I assume you were of the throttle when changing gear?

Yeah I'd heard that high gear, low speed, uphill is a good test for a slipping clutch.  I took the car uphill in 6th at about 40-50mph and it pulled slowly but strongly, definitely no clutch slip there.

Yes off the throttle - clutch down - clutch up while applying revs - revs hang for a second - back to normal.

This has only happened twice in my 3 months of driving. Once shifting to 4th, and this time when shifting to 5th

  6. I've owned my HR for around 3 months now, and have noticed the following happening twice in a month.

I was putting my foot down on a straight and shifting through 2nd, 3rd, 4th with no issues.  I put the car into fifth and as I pulled the clutch up the revs didn't drop down immediately. I shifted somewhere between 5-6k I think.

Normally as soon as the clutch is up the revs drop right down, but they hovered at around 4k for maybe a second then went back to normal.  The accelerator was pushed to the floor the whole time the revs were hanging.

    Is this my clutch slipping?

The car is on 97k miles, but I've got an invoice for a new clutch and DMF that was installed roughly 30K miles ago, so any clutch issues would be quite early on in its life?

Anyone got any advice on this?

    Thanks.

  7. I've recently replaced the side light bulbs in my HR with some Osram W5W LED's, I'd tried using cheaper eBay LED's however these typically started flickering after a week of use.

I installed the new bulbs today, and the one on the right is not working anymore.

The socket you push the bulbs into was quite loose on the right hand side which I believe is the issue.

The plastic socket looks quite weak/brittle though, so I'm not sure if clamping it so its a bit tighter would damage it.

Has anyone got any recommendations for what I can do here?

I've had to take the wheel and arch liner off about 3 times each side now, so I'm hoping I can finally fix this for good!

    Thanks for the help

  9. I'll take a look on the Torque app later and see what max throttle I can get to.

Have you looked at installing the 380rs pedal? It has a wider bottom so is easier to heel-toe

Can't say anything about the HR jerk - I believe the PO of my car said that it was an issue on my HR at one point, however after having it remapped (UpRev) there has been no issue.

Exclusive Registrations on Instagram. I've received a lot of compliments about the look of them and they are 100% legal and of good quality. The lettering actually extends from the plate itself.

These look really good - I'll have to send them a message.  Do you remember what they cost you?

    Thanks

  11. I've purchased some cheap LED's off ebay to replace various lights around the car, however I keep having to replace them as they start flickering after a few weeks.

Are there any decent websites that sell T10 LED bulbs that actually work?

I've had a search on the forum, but everything I found is 4 years old and the links are now dead.

    Thanks for the help

  12. I'm looking at picking up a private plate in a couple of months.  I've had a plate printed at Halfords before and it was starting to peel around the edges after being used once on a trailer.

Can anyone recommend a decent website/place to get these done?

I've seen some nice "4D" ones, but don't know if these are actually legal or not?

    Thanks :)

  13. You could swap the plastic trim for the version with the cubby hole instead?

Not that cheap a mod though unfortunately, especially if you have to buy the parts new:

It would be easiest to replace the centre console with the non-navigation trim, then replace the stock radio for an updated model if you want something more modern.

I'm sure other people have fitted screens instead of the sat-nav though, so there are definitely other options

  14. FYI - I bought 5L of oil from halfords I didn't need and no receipt - took it back about 3 months after buying and they gave me a refund based on current prices.

Might be worth a go if you're local to a halfords.

    Nice offer though
