  1. Afternoon Guys,

Looking for someone with some knowledge to help me on the best thing to do with my arches. Also ignore that the car is due a proper detail/wash lol, that's getting done tomorrow.

Got some photos of my arches below first one has been repaired/patched not a cut/weld job.

Wondering if anyones used or had experience with this company for front wings? One of mines started to rot, the others started to crack and think I'll get both sorted:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-NISSAN-350Z-2003-2009-WING-DRIVER-SIDE-FRONT-RIGHT-PRIMED-READY-TO-PAINT/133652442491?hash=item1f1e4e6d7b:g:IlYAAOSw4a1fQOA8

To go alongside this I'm wondering if it's just worth getting some fibreglass arches to prevent any further rusting in the future?

    Straight swop Matt.

However the wiring may be different if heated or not, but the electrical block connector is the same

    Cracking thank you.

Was worried that one would look completely different as it's from a 2008 model rather than my 2004 haha.

  3. Afternoon Chaps,

Long story short someone opened their door while I was on a main road and I now don't have much of a passenger side wing mirror.

I've found a 2008 facelift wing mirror close to me in the right colour, are these different or will they fit onto my 2004 350z both fitting and wiring wise.

Found an old post from ZmanAlex on how to replace these so I'll give it ago myself.

Hoping the paint match won't be too off but I'll get it resprayed if it is, I know silvers can be a bit funny.

So will it fit and are they the same?

    Thanks in advance.

Having recently done this (i say I... @Keyser and Mrs Keyser did most of the work) its an all day job, even with all the tools in the world at your disposal and a lift. Definitely DIY-able, but if youre on the ground with a trolly jack and axle stands, its a difficult one. a surprising (to me) amount of stuff has to come off

    Thanks for your reply.

We'll have the access to lifts and tools but doesn't sound straight forward from what you say..

    Any tips/tutorials/advice?

The way forward would be to pull and strip the box to assess the damage or just drop in a used unit to save on downtime.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I'm guessing the cost to pull/strip the box would be heafty as it is.. and if i'm doing it at my friends garage he might as well put another gearbox in?

    Does that sound sensible?

  6. Afternoon Chaps,

So had a bit of a nightmare yesterday, went out for a spirited drive alongside my mates E36 Track 328i.

Going from 2nd to 3rd gear i heard a loud audible bang towards the back of the car.... initially thought it was the diff/prop but seemingly it was the gearbox.

Could understand if i was rev matching down/putting a lot of pressure on the box but didn't expect it from 2nd to 3rd.

It now appears as if Third gear is non existant.

It will slip into the gear fine however if you lift the clutch nothing is there whatsoever and you get a very quiet grinding sound...

    Double clutching doesn't work...

Parked car > Into Third Gear > Lift off Clutch also doesn't engage anything..

Guessing i'll need a new gearbox but any ideas or contacts?

    Cost for rebuild?

    Cost for second hand gearbox?

Looks like i'll be living the 350z life for a bit longer after dropping the money on this!

    Cheers,

    Matt

I had the same thing bank 2 down stream of the CAT on a bog standard MY08 350Z around 110000 miles I think.

Left it for around a year then sourced a pre used OEM sensor, this made no difference.

Many months later I had a garage fit a brand new OEM sensor and still had the fault.

The garage suspected a faulty relay but I sold the car through WBAC before I got it fixed so unresolved.

It should be fairly easy to check the power supply to make sure it comes on when cold and goes off after a few minutes I would have thought.

    Thanks for the reply!

So far i've cleaned the O2 Sensor, replaced one that i thought was the cause of the issue and still have the same error.

Can you provide a bit more info into checking the power supply? Do you mean the voltage or checking the relay itself?

I'm going to try and get some spacers fit this weekend but would be better to fix it properly of cause...

I had the same on mine randomly, stock exhaust, one day got p0430, cleared came back every few days, switch left and right bank sensors, cleared, still got p0430, got my friendly garage to emission test me and everything was good so I got a o2 sensor spacer and it came back once in about 6months. No performance or mpg was affected before or after so God knows what is was.

Thanks Rob, i'll order some spacers and see where i get to!

I'm sure I've heard about spacers that can be purchased to place near the O2 sensors to prevent this.

(Awaits someone more knowledgeable to chip in :b )

    Yeah i've seen the Blox one's - https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/exhausts/gaskets-hangers-tips/1158-350z-blox-racing-cel-fix-check-engine-light-eliminator-adapter-o2-sensor-extender-bxfl-00108.html

Might be a suitable fix/bodge... Just seems bizare that the lights on in the first place though..

I wouldn't have thought swapping the Y-Pipe would have caused this, unless i do have issues with fuelling.

Generally the car does smell quite rich but it did pass it's MOT test for emissions no problem.

We're the new cats standard or aftermarket? Couldn't be something to do with those at a guess?

Aftermarket cats but no warning lights when i purchased the car.

Cats were installed 3 months prior to me buying it to be precise.

Warning lights came on around 8 months of ownership and replacing the Y-Pipe... Don't think it's the cats imho.

  11. Afternoon Chaps,

I've been having an on-going issue for a while now and i'm struggling to get to the bottom of it. It did start after replacing a Y-Pipe but i'm not sure if it's related.

It doesn't seem to affect the cars performance, maybe slightly lower MPG but that could just be the 3.5V6 beast doing it's thing . Could be running rich???

This could have been the catalyst for it -

As above i had an injector go on me so i had to replace it... since then i've still had the below codes:

    Cheap OBD II reader reads:

    P0420
    P0430
    P0420 P
    P0430 P
    P1147 P

All point to the O2 sensors/Cats...

Cleared the error codes doing the pedal dance and using the ODB Reader..

The error just then came up for P0420.. which was for the driver side post cat O2 Sensor.

I replaced this with my mate in the garage with a genuine one from Horsham Devs.. did the pedal dance ECU reset... few days later and the engine warning light came back on..

After checking with the ODBII reader again it's flagging the below:

    P0420
    P0430

Any ideas what could be causing this? Don't think it's the cats as no rattles, also they were new three months before i bought the car..

What's my best bet? Engine warning lighter blocker kit????

    Any help/suggestions welcomed..

  12. Morning Chaps,

I've had my 350z for about a year and loved ownership so far. After going down to Wales Rally GB i seem to have developed a fault.

    ODB2 errors:
    P0420 - Pre Cat O2 Sensor (i think)

    P0303 - Misfire cylinder 3

So it started with a engine warning light that you could clear which would come back after a week but the car was running fine.

Now the car has had a misfire that progressively has got worse on cylinder 3.

Now it's pretty much undriveable, i've got it to and from work but it sounds like a tractor and there's a lot of vibration.

Ordered some new sparks and trying to find a O2 Sensor. Won't get chance to get it into the garage/up on the ramps till Saturday.

Any suggestions? Would a coil pack help this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

  14. This is what you want mate:

    Ebay Link

Order one of these, have it cut for by any local key cutter. Follow the guide to put your 350z into programming mode and sync the fob with your car.

Recently bought a 350z with one key and had to do the above process.

The programming mode part is a bit of a bugger but it does work with persistence.

Also they're not expensive as previously mentioned..

  15. Evening guys,

Recently purchased myself a 2004 DE 350z in Gun Metal Grey.

Massively chuffed, i've come from a Clio 197 with quite a few mods but this is a complete different kettle of fish.

I was very fond of my 197 and all the crackles/backfire it produced but i can't be more happy with the resonating sound of the 3.5 V6.

Here's a few pics before i had chance to give it a proper detailing :)
